Maggie begins this hour by looking into the recent German elections. The far-right party has doubled their support in national elections in just four years. Over the weekend, they gained almost 20 percent of the support. Young people voted either far right or far left. Not a lot of young centrist voters. Sound familiar? Political Editor, Dan Shafer, also joins Maggie this hour for "State Slate." Maggie and Dan discuss the state superintendent race. You can check out the latest here: https://www.therecombobulationarea.news/p/could-brittany-kinser-win-the-race. This one, according to Dan, could be a really close! And Gov. Evers budget address has the right completely freaking out...over semantics.

Guest: Dan ShaferJill Rosenthal, Director of Public Health Policy at the Center for American Progress, joins Maggie this hour to discuss the proposed cuts at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Jill explains that these cuts could affect how diseases are treated, medicine development, research, and our overall well-being, but they also affect the economy. Wisconsin, for example, receives over $600 million in NIH grants for research. Trump's proposed cuts put nearly 8,000 jobs in jeopardy. It also puts the rural hospitals and clinics at risk and hurts the training infrastructure for young scientists. For more information on the NIH, you can check out these articles:
Dom Salvia also joins Maggie for "In Case You Missed It." They discuss Steve Bannon and his CPAC Nazi salute, and Elon Musk's email blast asking federal employees what they did last week.
It's Monday, and Maggie is back at it! And so is the Trump administration. Today, the United States voted against a resolution, backed by most of Europe, demanding Russian withdrawal from Ukraine. With all this, the resistance is strong! Several representatives, including here in Wisconsin, faced some tough, fed up constituents over the weekend. As Maggie points out in "Maggie's Metrics," the smallest units of government have the greatest impact on you and your family's life. Maggie discusses specific cases of local government officials currently making headlines. Tell your local Republicans what you think of what's going on. Call: Milwaukee County Republicans - (414) 897-7202; Waukesha County Republicans - (262) 542-8532.
Kicking off this hour, Maggie invites Gray Gunderson of Park Falls to talk about the Birkie on the Maggie Daun Show! They have a lot of great conversations, including a call from Jim in Brookfield about how much the event means and how little known it is here in WI despite drawing international visitors.
Then, Paul Vanden Plas with Wonderfully Wisconsin joins Maino & the Mayor. Paul uses social media platforms to share all the wonderful things Wisconsin has to offer. From local dive bars to state parks that folks may not know, Paul takes us there and shares the places, people, and history that make this state so awesome.
Next, sometimes, when a guest doesn't show up, you get a great conversation with the listeners on Matenaer On Air. In lieu of a Social Security advocate coming on the show to talk about the importance of protecting the nations most important "entitlements", we turned the mic to the audience and for three straight segments, we took call after call and listened to folks on or affected by social security, we read their texts and livestream comments. All of them express how vital that check is to their lives, and survival as well as what will happen if the current administration takes a machete to the money they've paid into, for so many years.
Last but not least, John and Gordy in the Morning welcomes back Mike McCabe to talk about the hardships, but also community from farm life, and how it can be a metaphor for what the country needs right now.

Guests: Jane Matenaer, Greg Bach, Maggie Daun, John Maino, Jim Schmitt, Gray Gunderson, Gordy Young, John Peterson, Mike McCabe, Paul VandenPlasThe hour kicks off when the Earl Ingram Show is joined by Professor Bob Harvey for a history lesson, educating the show on the slave trade, religious freedoms and touches the hearts of callers and texters.
Then, Northeastern Wisconsin based Rock/ Rap musician Matt Harper joins Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba. Pete and Matt talk about the Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl Half Time Show, the Rock/ Rap Combo, and Matt performs songs in-studio.
After that, there was a little bit of Black History Month history made in Wisconsin this week. For seven years, Republicans have obstructed a clean Black History Month resolution from the Legislative Black Caucus. This year, it passed the Assembly on a unanimous voice vote. UpNorthNews asks the caucus chair and vice chair, Sen. Dora Drake and Rep. Sequanna Taylor, about the small victory, the ongoing fights to take real action on areas where communities of color still face broad disparities, and how the next state budget can help or hurt their cause.
Finally, the Dom Salvia Show likes to end each day with something good. Dom, Jess, and any guests must each share something either happy or simply good that we've experienced recently. Thursday, with Jim Santelle, we got a lot of good. From happy news on our text line to good acts we can do and the power of art, this is a great short segment!

We start this hour with another edition of "Ask Maggie." Maggie answers your questions on...really anything! Pop culture, politics, sports...it doesn't matter the subject -- but she only has 30 or 60 seconds. If there is a question you want to ask Maggie, email [email protected]. Teri Barr is also back with another edition of "What’s Good, Local & Overlooked." Today, Teri tells us about Brett Newski of Milwaukee. He's putting out a new album but won't be putting it on any of the streaming services. And, by the way, who doesn't love the Violent Femmes?

Guest: Teri BarrIt's finally Friday! This hour Maggie is joined by Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI 4) to discuss Elon's take over. The congresswoman talks about Trump and Musk flooding the zone and trying to take away our resolve. The question Congresswoman Moore asks is...how? How is Musk getting access? Musk isn't a federal employee, and his actions are compromising national security! The congresswoman also discusses the proposed cuts to Medicaid and social security. The cuts equal more than the actual contributions, but Congresswoman Moore says we still have time. We need to "show up and show out."

Guest: Congresswoman Gwen MooreTom Palzewicz, the most reasonable guy in politics, is Maggie's co-host today. The conversation regarding the dismay over the Trump administration's trash talk of European allies and NATO continues this hour. There's a lot of transactional dealmaking happening. Illinois Governor JD Pritzker gave his 2025 State of the State address earlier this week. Maggie and Tom discuss Pritzker's warning against authoritarianism.

Guest: Tom PalzewiczIt's Thursday (and a jam-packed hour), and Tom Palzewicz is back as Maggie's co-host. Kash Patel has officially been confirmed, and Mitch McConnell has announced he's not running again. Maggie and Tom discuss how it's actually a related move. Plus, the Trump administration is getting rid of CISA and targeting government officials who had been flagging foreign interference in U.S. elections. Maggie and Tom also discuss the latest Republican take on Ukraine and the new American-Russian alliance.
Maggie continues this hour with more Wisconsin Wednesday! Sen. Sarah Keyeski (SD 14) joins Maggie this hour for another edition of "Broad Appeal." Sen. Keyeski discusses the long-standing values that have guided her throughout life...an now her time at the Capitol. She also discusses the issues that are important to her during this legislative session. Plus, Rep. Mark Pocan joins Maggie to discuss the Elon Act. It really comes down to an unelected president who wants tax breaks for himself. Rep. Pocan encourages us to call their representatives. Here is the number to contact Rep. Derrick VanOrden: (202) 225-5506.
