On today's show, Maggie calls out Trump's loyalty pledges. On applications, people are being asked questions like "Was January 6 an inside job?" It's not loyalty to a country. It's loyalty to a person. It's asking applicants and appointees to lean into the lies.
Dan Shafer also joins Maggie this hour for another edition of "State Slate." Today, Maggie and Dan discuss the bill proposed by Wisconsin Republicans which would limit school referendums, essentially boxing in local communities. Dan also reminds us that we are one week away from Gov. Tony Evers budget address! We are also only one week away from the state primary, which includes the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. It's turning into a really competitive race!

Just under 800,000 kids across the US are served by Head Start. As Maggie's guests point out, these kids are some of the most vulnerable in our communities. And thanks to Trump's dismantling of public programs, organizations can no longer operate under the assumption they will receive funding. Call your local representatives Washington, DC offices to tell them you support these local programs:

Guests: Dom Salvia, Casey Peeks, Jen BaileyThe post Super Bowl hangover is real! The big question on Maggie's mind today is who had the worst day -- Seal, Drake, or the Chiefs? Maggie also highlights her best, worst, and most "ew" Super Bowl commercials. And there's a reason why Kendrick Lamar is a Grammy and Pulitzer Prize winning artist and poet. As Maggie points out, his half-time show wasn't just about the music. Oh, and there was also a football game too...

Guest: Sky CaprioloTom Palzewicz is back as Maggie's co-host. This hour, Maggie and Tom discuss data collection...or as it currently stands, the lack of data collection. One of the things the US government has done really well has been the non-partisan collection of data and sharing it with the public. Now that data is being scrubbed, and as Maggie and Tom point out, this is what autocrats do. They pretend the information being collected isn't happening, and this may the most fundamental problem we have going forward as a democracy.

Guest: Tom PalzewiczTom Palzewicz, one of the most reasonable guys in politics, is back as Maggie's co-host today! Maggie and Tom dive into the first amendment. What are its limitations? When is censorship too much? The MAGA movement is suppressing basic information and using social media to pass along misinformation and blatant lies. It's about mind control. Maggie and Tom discuss where we are willing to draw the line, not just politically, but as humans.

Guest: Sen. Melissa RatcliffDonald Trump's "parade of horribles" continue. Gaza as the Riveria of the Middle East? It's stupid. But it's more than that. Today, Maggie explains why it's actually about the country's values. She breaks down the reasons why she stays engaged in politics and also finds out why you care and continue the good fight. We also get some inspiration from the words of Bishop Mariann Budde the day after inauguration.

This hour, Maggie shares what Donald Trump's "parade of horribles" mean for all of us going forward. (And by the way, it's only been three weeks!) This is the GOP's plan for America on meth. Fortunately, Maggie says there are things we can do going forward. She suggests calling Congress to tell them you believe in civil service. The number is 202-224-3121. She also reminds us to register to vote and to use the power of our speech.
Dane County Circuit Court Judge and Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate, Judge Susan Crawford also joins Maggie this hour. Judge Crawford shares her background and why she wants to be a fair and partial justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She also explains how her common sense, factual, non-biased approach differs from her Republican opponent and protects human rights. And apparently, we gotta try her chocolate chip cookies!
