Ministers will begin the legal process of ending Ireland's triple lock protocol for overseas deployments today (Tuesday, 4th March).
Tánaiste Simon Harris will bring forward draft legislation to remove the need for United Nations Security Council approval for peacekeeping missions abroad.
Under the changes, the government could deploy up to 50 troops to missions abroad without consulting either the Dáil or the UN.
