Addiction knows no boundaries. Recently Rabbi Perice disclosed during a Zoom call with his congregation that he has been in recovery from prescription pain killers for over a decade. Addiction doesn’t discriminate against anyone. Whether you have money or not. It doesn’t care what your religious beliefs are. Even if you are a spiritual leader, like Rabbi Perice - it just doesn't care.

As with all convictions, after you have completed whatever the courts have convicted you of, your records are still "out there" for the public to see, and so we are discriminated against for housing, employment, and credit, etc. Former Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams joins us to discuss some of the challenges he has had following his issues with the law. We have paid our debt to society, but the stigma and the consequences for past behavior does not go away. This needs to change!

On this edition of Clean and Sober Radio, host Gary Hendler and cohost Mark Sigmund interview former Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher Randy Lerch. Not long after the Phillies won the 1980 World Series, the team was enmeshed in a scandal involving amphetamines. Randy’s life began to fall apart. In 2016, Randy was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, caused by drug and alcohol abuse. Today, Randy is clean and sober and is giving back to the community. What a story he will tell.

Otherwise Known as "Bundy," Therien played with well-known Flyers players like Eric Lindros and John LeClair, reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in 1996-97. From a stellar athletic career, Chris was also battling, on the ice and off the ice, an alcohol addiction. Now in recovery for over 10 years, Chris is giving back. He is part owner of the Limitless Recovery Center in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia.
