About 50 people gathered at Shepparton's "Woolshed" on Tuesday, March 7, to acknowledge and celebrate the launch of the City of Greater Shepparton's "Climate Action Emergency Plan".

The speakers included a member of Australia's "Climate Council", Professor David Karoly, a representative of the Waranga Landcare Management Collective, Ms Lou Costa,  and the Director of La Trobe University's Carbon Neutral Strategy, Andrew Jennings (pictured).

Zali Steggall (pictured) was elected as an Independent Member for the Federal Seat of Warringah with the mandate to take action on climate change and here you can see, hear and read the message that Ms Steggall took to parliament - "Zali Steggall MP calls government to regulate methane emissions".

Also, Greens leader Adam Brandt has called on the Albanese Labor Government to end its coal and gas exploitation, while the government's Energy and Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen told RN Breakfast that a "Blanket ban" on coal and gas would be "irresponsible".

Rushworth's Lou Costa (pictured) joined those who gather Beneath the Wisteria in Shepparton (imagined only as the wisteria that was once the group's home a fallen prey to so-called progress) to talk about the personal and global challenges of having children in the face of a quickly unfolding climate crisis.

During her presentation, Lou mentioned that Wales had a "Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015" and so a Commissioner for Future Generations, and referred to a story on "The Conversation" written by a PhD candidate from Monash University, Craig Stanbury, entitled "Thinking of having a baby as the planet collapses? First, ask yourself 5 big ethical questions".

People need to acknowledge that we are in the midst of humanity's most profound moment and that, according to climate scientist and author, Joëlle Gergis (pictured), is the most immediate thing people do regarding the climate crisis.

The Australian National University doctor was in conversation with the deputy director of Psychology for a Safe Climate, Dr Charles Le Feuvre, discussing her latest book, "Humanity's Moment: A Climate Scientist's Case for Hope".

Cecilia Sorensen  (pictured), who is the director of the Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education at Columbia University and is an Emergency  Medicine physician-investigator in the area of climate change and health, told a Columbia University Climate School webinar of a hospital emergency department which had no other way of cooling heat stroke victims outside putting them in a body bag packed with ice.

The doctor was one of three panellists on a webinar, hosted by the Founding Dean of the Columbia Climate School and the Director of the  Earth Institute, Columbia University, Professor Alex N. Halliday.

The webinar was entitled: "Blazing Temperatures, Broken Records: Responding to the Global Heat Crisis".

Performer Neil Young is still searching for a "Heart of Gold" and the choir-like unison he encourages is what the world needs if it is going to genuinely, and honestly,  tackle the climate crisis.

Entrepreneur and engineer, Saul Griffith, is back in Australia after about 20 years in the U.S. where he had pretty much convinced the country it urgently needed to electrify everything and now he has brought that story home to Australia as it was explained on "Australian Story - The Transformer, Saul Griffith";

Radio National's Breakfast program, hosted by Patricia Karvelas, featured an interview today, February 28, with Climate Council Research Director, Simon Bradshaw, who said mental health services are ill-equipped to meet the demand, especially in regional and rural areas where climate events are more frequent.

Bradshaw talked about "The toll of climate emergencies on Australians".

Melbourne-based sociologist, author and podcaster, Terry Leahy (pictured), was one of three speakers at the Sunday, February 26, launch of Degrowth Network Australia (DNA) at Northcote's Black Spark Cultural Centre.

The two other speakers were Earthworker board member and a Victorian Trades Hall Council Just Transitions Organiser, Colin Long, and activist-scholar, Anitra Nelson, an honorary principal fellow at the Informal Urbanism Research Hub at the University of Melbourne.
