  • #28 – Your House Represents the Inside of Your Head

OK, anyone who’s been in my house and saw that title probably just laughed out loud. I am NOT a house person.

Which is probably why I've been finding healing my living space so powerful.

There is a spiritual law that states, "As within, so without."

And I've realized that my messy, neglected, underappreciated, cluttered house reflects a lot of what I'm carrying around in my head.

That it's probably not the best place to create a successful business, call in love and write a book. Because this space screams block, doubt, unworthiness, and settling for crumbs.

That my house is literally holding my unresolved trauma.

And that by healing the house, I can heal myself. And that it may be a key part of my long COVID healing journey.

So this week on the podcast, I talk about what I'm doing to elevate my space and the lessons I've learned along the way.

  • #27 – The Neuroscience of Self Healing

Have you ever had a moment of profound healing that seemed mysterious?

Or alternately, have you ever spent years in therapy and wondered why nothing was changing?

Neuroscience has the answers to your questions. And they are really cool!

Spoiler alert: your brain is constantly rewiring its neural pathways. And you can use simple tools to direct and speed up the process.

In this episode, we look at the four magic steps you'll find under every healing experience. And I'll share some examples of how these might look in EMDR, talk therapy, breathwork, psychedelics, or even a hug from your partner.

  • #26 – Your Struggles Are the Curriculum of Your Greatness

What do you do when life drops a big load of shit on you all at once?

That's exactly what happened to me this week. And I've got something to say about it! (Of course.)

One concept I've been leaning into is the idea that struggles are guideposts showing you the lessons you need to learn to be whole, fully human, and fully alive.

In this podcast, we'll talk about some of our knee-jerk reactions to enormous struggles (control, despair, etc.), why these don't really work, and a more helpful way to think about life challenges.

  • #25 – I Am Garbage Bitch (Boundaries, People Pleasing, and Energy Sovereignty)

Today's podcast is a little different! I'm sharing a journey I'm actively walking around learning to say no and set healthy boundaries.

I've had a lifelong struggle with people pleasing that has impacted all areas of my life.

Showing up to dinner with a friend when I'm so sick I have to drag my ass through the door because I hate to cancel plans? Check.

Pointlessly dating the same guy for weeks because I can't bring myself to tell him there's no spark? Check.

Taking on a volunteer role that is essentially an unpaid part-time job just because someone asked? Check.

Ignoring it when someone is mistreats me, because I'm programmed to be pleasant? Check.

But over the past few years, I've had a few wake up calls (ahem: chronic illness) that I need to heal this so I can serve at higher level.

So this week, I'm sharing some actions I'm taking (Garbage Bitch challenge!) and some of the teachings that have supported me as I'm walking this healing path.

    Resources mentioned:

    • Brooke's post
    • Brig's podcast on disappointing yourself
    • Simone's podcast on Garbage Post Challenge (and a follow up that discusses Garbage Bitch)

  • #24 – How to Be Wildly Creative and Prolific

Writers, artists, podcasters, bloggers, musicians, and content creators — this one's for you!

Have you ever sat in front of your computer struggling and grasping for ideas?

As a former full-time freelancer, I've been there too. And I know it doesn't work.

You might manage to get something out of yourself. But it's not exactly fire from the depths of your soul.

Friend, I'm happy to tell you the struggle is over.

Today on the podcast, I share eight (ish) brain hacks that will get your creativity flowing like a raging river, angry volcano, or whatever metaphor you like.

Not only will content be exploding out of you, it will be the kind of raw and heartfelt content your audience will love.

  • #23 – Spiritual Getaway in a Box

You might need a spiritual getaway if you  ...

    • Here the words "spiritual getaway" and go, FUCK YEAH!
    • Feel anxious, overwhelmed, or in a rut
    • Want to be more creative
    • Have a decision to make

The good news: spiritual getaways don't have to involve walking across Inner Mongolia with $100 in your pocket. (Although yours could if you're into that.)

You can have a spiritual getaway this afternoon in your backyard.

It's all about your intention and your state of mind.

    Intrigued?

In today's podcast episode, I show you how to plan (or actually NOT plan) your own spiritual getaway so you can receive insight, guidance, and healing.

  • #22 – My Blueprint for Overcoming Fears and Phobias

Fear of falling while rock climbing.
    Anxiety while mountain driving.
    Terror when your boyfriend drives.
    Going on a first date.
Drinking your way through an event because you're so self conscious.

What do all of these things have in common?

Fundamentally, they are all habits. You can think of them as patterns or programs your brain is running.

And the good news is, you can use neuroscience to stop the pattern so that you JUST DON'T CARE. Or even feel good in that situation.

On today's podcast episode, I'm going to walk your through a ridiculously simple four-step pattern to release fears and phobias without struggle, flooding, or white knuckling it.

  • #21 – How to Be More Selfish

Humans (especially women) get shamed for being selfish and putting our own needs first. The result: trying to care for others by pouring from an empty cup, which translates into burnout, overwhelm, and anxiety.

In this week's podcast, I show you how to break the cycle of endless giving and chronic depletion by reframing selfishness as a selfless act.

Let's talk about all the important ways that you training for a marathon, saying no, and taking time for yourself actually gives back to the world.

When you are "selfish," you have so much more to give. And you will also give others permission to likewise care for themselves.

  • #20 – Everyone Else Is Doing Too Much (Overfunctioning)

What's overfunctioning? It's doing a ton of unnecessary crap that takes up space in your life.

It's making spreadsheet after spreadsheet of training plans when really all you need to do is get outside and move your body a lot.

It's intermittent fasting and nutrient cycling when you fundamentally just need to eat high quality foods.

It's working hard to do the right things so people will like you — even when you have zero control over others' opinions.

It's following every rule of gentle/attachment parenting to the point you're exhausted — even though research shows all kids need is a "good enough" parent.

And here's a secret: everyone's doing it! (Including me.)

In this podcast, I share some examples of what overfunctioning looks like, how to stop comparing yourself to the overfunctioners of the world, and how to create more freedom and spaciousness in your life. Enjoy!
