    Greetings and salutations my fellow hivers, welcome to my blog I am @coderaikiri - an anime enthusiast and lover of all things music.

    This is my first time dropping an entry for the creative Sunday gig despite learning about it for weeks now. I was kinda reluctant to post on the platform as I am still unfamiliar with its regulations but something pushed me to give it a try and if I make mistakes, the corrections will serve as a guide for my next entry.
    The prompt focuses on creativity, self expression and displaying all forms of talent fostering an environment for inclusivity and to that I remain grateful to the admins and other facilitators of this great community for this opportunity.
    Being a music lover, it is only fair to myself that my entry will revolve around singing as that has been a part of me for as long as I can remember thanks to my family, friends, loved ones and the community. The song I'll be presenting is part of the blown boy Ru album of the artist Ruger and so happens to be my favourite track in the entire album since its release 3 months ago .     Come together was actually my first time connecting with the artist H.E.R, she came in on the second verse and damn right almost stole the entire which is something that really happens when Chris breeezyy is on the track.
    The song explores themes that have always been my forte love, fighting against odds and getting together. The combo between RnB and hip pop made the sound quite enjoyable, do give a listen it is truly a gem

  • ThrowBack Thursday: An unexpected turn of events

    On the 10th of August 2023, I woke to a call from my classmate in Uni. I answered the phone sleepily and without so much as a good morning, he screamed loudly :

    " Emmanuel results are out, check to see the shock of the century." And almost immediately hung up.
    Those words sent chills down my spin, I got down from the bed with a sense of urgency, brushed my teeth and logged into the school portal to check my results and could not believe my eyes. I logged in and out four consecutive times to confirm if those weird looking alphabets truly belonged to me but alas nothing changed. I could not believe my eyes for the first time as an undergraduate student the letter F finally found its way into my grades and to make matters worse, there were three of them.

    I was both shocked and confused as I knew deep down this could not be my result because that semester happened to be my most serious. I resumed super early, missed only five classes the entire semester all of which was due to health related issues, aced 90% of my tests, read like crazy and participated in activities that contributed to academic growth. So how was it possible to end up with 3Fs, 2Bs, an A and an E, it made no sense at all except admitting all my effort was pointless but how does one accept such a heartwreck.

    I wasted no time in calling my friend to express my disbelief. He told me that I was not the only one going through this mess and the entire class is still lamenting on the Whatsapp group chat.

    The class representative had promised to look into the matter and urged the entire class not to panic as there was definitely something wrong somewhere.

    News of the result ruined my mood for the rest of the day and my roommates noticed. I told them about my predicament but they simply told me it might be a glitch so I should not let it way me down. One of them suggested we all head out to a party that was happening that evening. I was surprised as I never knew the school hosted parties on a Thursday night. After hours of persuasion, I finally gave in realizing it would help get my mind off things.

    As soon as it was 9 pm, we all got dressed and off we went to get our party on. The event was very close to where we lived and within 7 minutes we were already at the location. The party was lit, there were girls everywhere, the music was crazy good and the entertainment top notch but I was still struggling to blend in. My roommates finally forced me to at least get up and walk since I didn't want to dance. As I was walking and watching people have fun, I discovered more than half the class were at the party. Apparently they all had the same idea of using the party to free their minds. I talked with a few of them and within minutes I was already dancing. The party was a vibe and I'm glad I gave it a try instead of wallowing in a pool of frustration at home. We partied till about 2 am before heading back home to get some shut eye due to an early class.

    The very next day we got a response from our course representative that the results on the portal were not uploaded properly and was undergoing alterations.

    Three days later, I checked my results again hoping to see something new. I leaped for joy as all the Fs had been replaced by something fulfilling. What I saw may not be part of my original plan however it will always be better than the monstrosity staring back at me days ago.

    Till this very day I still look back to what had transpired that thursday and how I would have missed out on a really good time if there was never a mistake in my result.

    The 26th of November 3 years ago happens to be one of the worst day of my life. I received a heart wrecking news in school that a very good friend of mine died that very morning. That news shock me to the core as this was something I tried to prevent. My friend Somadina was angry that his uncle kept holding him back with empty promises and has no plans of actually helping him. He made up his mind that was going to leave Niger state for Lagos that very year (2022) as there were tons of opportunities awaiting him away from the prying eyes of his uncle. I begged him not to leave as Lagos was a very difficult place to survive but he wouldn't listen. I also convinced my parents to beg him to stay, and that he could still make it here even if it meant leaving his uncle's place but his mind was already set on leaving.
    He left for Lagos with a dream to prove to the world that he could make. This dream was cut short as 7 months later he slumped and died at the very place he was working. News of his death broke me and I kept blaming myself and his uncle for his untimely demise.
    This song was a reflection of how I felt and it also happened to be his favorite song. Whenever I wanted to remember him, I just play this song and thing about the good times he made the boys laugh with his ridiculous comments. I know he's gone from this plane but he's soul will never be forgotten. Until we meet again brother. We still miss you

    Hello gems community it is your humble boy @coderaikiri and for this week I'll be giving y'all a pretty doozy one.

    The rainy season is actually my favorite time of the year and we are currently enjoying it over here in Nigeria. Reasons why I love the rain can be traced down the fun moments I had with my people whenever the sky starts to cry and that is the inspiration for singing this song.
    In 2013 my immediate older sister was admitted into the university where was to study her dream course. After just a semester, she came back with songs from artists I knew nothing about but loved their works one of them happens to Adele. I fell in love with hello, send my love and the rest but was completely hypnotized by set fire to the rain and it became the song for my rainy adventures. I don't do them anymore but whenever I listen to the song, there are always different memories of a boy who had nothing to worry besides enjoying his childhood attached to them.     Immediately after breaking into the limelight with his hit song Ifeoma, Cupid his been a force be reckoned with in the afrobeats space. His soothing voice, melodies and combination of English, pidgin and the native Igbo language made his sound all the more unique. It did not take long for me to fall in love with his pattern as he songs not only resonate with me but it had that flare I always felt was lacking in some artist within the genre. I used to think he was the usual one hit wonder that would eventually fade into obscurity within months but time and time again it seems all the lad has done is prove me wrong. It is secret that with this level of consistent hits, Cupid is slowly creeping into my top three favorite singer even when I know he is not getting the recognition he deserves. Nevertheless he still remains extremely good on the game.
    I want more is not the usual song we are used to hearing, the intro along is enough to get legs shaking, heads bobbling and body grooving. The song is nothing short of incredible. Nothing scares me more than realizing there is a good song out there and the vast majority don't appreciate such beauty or it is not given its due credit. So y'all give his songs a try and enjoy the ride.

    One thing I always try to remember is never underestimate any song that has J.B on it. "Let me love you" is not just melodic but so alluring that one would think the artist was telling a story.     Have you ever felt lost, broken and confused? Do you feel like you are alive but not really living life to the fullest? Does your heart ache any time you look back at your existence? Well then this song is just for you.
    This is meant to be a love song that revolves around someone being unstable yet the partner still loves him anyway but for me it worked completely differently. There was a time I felt trapped inside my own with no direction to where I was going. Everyday it was the same routine and it was absolutely tiring living in a constant loop. I had no one to talk to because I kept thinking they will never understand.
    This might even sound like me exaggerating but this calmness from this contributed to me getting outta that funk although help from friends and loved ones made quite a huge impact. I continued to listen to this song until I was truly able to love myself, trust myself again. It really made me realize that no matter what I was going through, as long as there are people who truly care about my well-being then I can overcome it. I told myself then that the mind is a man's most powerful tool and his own enemy if he doesn't use it well and since then I have vowed never to let my own emotions get the better of me.

  • Childhood Memories are the Best - A whole New world From Aladdin

    Hello Hivers, greetings my fellow Gemites welcome once more to my blog, hope y'all doing okay. I remain myself @coderaikiri and this time we'll be going in an adventure to a whole new world.

    17 years ago, my childhood friend and I decided that we don't want to wait on our parents anymore before we can watch cartoons as they almost never buy what we wanted. After weeks of saving up what little cash we could gather, we took off to the market to buy our first VCDs. I picked the cartoon Tarzan while my friend on the other bought Aladdin. We bought agreed to buy different films so that we can swap and watch them both. I truly enjoyed watching Tarzan and right after we were done with what we each bought we swapped them. The world of Agragba held me captive for weeks I almost didn't want to return it to my friend begging him to either sell it to me or the swap should permanent. He refused both offers pushing to save up some more to purchase the one thing I wanted most in the world at that time -ALADDIN.
    It was not easy at all but after weeks of starving and saving up, I finally acquired my very own Aladdin disk. The film was captivating and till this remains my favourite Disney cartoon if not western cartoons in general.
    A whole new world is more than just a song to me, it was my childhood story. Till this very day I still get goosebumps listening it. Maybe the reason I loved it so much was because it made me yearn for something so beautiful but yet so unreal. I still don't know what it feels like to be in a new world but that doesn't mean I'll stop trying , I need to make 10year old me proud. I hope you all listen and enjoy
