Dr. Scott Strong, Colorectal Surgeon at Northwestern Medicine, joins Wendy Snyder, filling in for Lisa Dent, to talk about the rise in colorectal cancer in Gen Z and Millennials. Colon cancer is the third most common cancer in men and women. Previously, colon cancer was commonly thought to only affect people later in life. But in the last seven to eight years, 15 percent of patients with colon cancer are under 50 years old. Dr. Strong attributes the rise to younger generations eating larger amounts of processed foods.
