We have to be ever diligent and watch out for apostasy in the church; and always examine the teachers set before us to ensure that they are teaching sound doctrine. As Pastor Mark says in his message today, we’re just one generation away from apostasy. So, that’s why it’s important to trust but verify everything we’re taught. In today’s message, Pastor Mark brings to the forefront the importance of not just looking for teachers tickling your ears. Rather, look only to teachers who are teaching what the Bible is saying, regardless of how they were brought up. If our opinion or upbringing is contrary to the word, we have to be willing to yield to it.

Grace isn’t an excuse to just do whatever our flesh desires. You can’t add to Jesus. The Gospel is a one-step program! Believe Jesus finished the work. The word finished is a farming term, which means everything that needed to be done; was completely done, and nothing was left undone! We have a good God who draws, loves us, and keeps us with the Faith that He gave us. In today’s message, Pastor Mark calls us to wake up! Not we unwise to the devices of the devil! Don’t let him trick you into believing the false doctrine of “Jesus And.” The goal of that doctrine is to make the gospel of no effect in your life! Wake up church, there is an enemy on the prowl seeking to destroy you!

A man once said, "The law was the light that reveals how dirty the room is, not the broom that sweeps it clean." Wow isn’t that powerful! The law was never given to us to make us right with God; it was given to make us come to the end of ourselves and cause us to recognize that we need a savior. That savior’s name is Jesus! In today’s message, Pastor Mark reminds us that we aren’t building a house in heaven on our own. We aren’t cutting a check signed in our blood to pay for our relationship with the Father. That Jesus is the one who justifies us. Jesus is the one who makes us right with God, and He’s the one who keeps us right with God. 

Most of us didn’t get to learn the truth of the Gospel from Jesus in person, but we’re fortunate to have the Apostle Paul fill in the gap in our understanding. Tradition can have a place in the church, but our traditions should never quench the Holy Spirit's moving. The people around you are watching your life. What kingdom are you representing? Are you showing love, compassion, and mercy? Are you walking in forgiveness; are you being a peacemaker? What does your walk tell the world about the God you believe in? You’re called to represent the King well here on this earth! In today’s message, Pastor Mark reminds us of the power of a testimony. The power of a transformed life, that has been molded into the image of God; a life that bears the fruit of righteousness. The way we walk matters, and our testimony matters; because for some people your life is the only epistle they will ever read.

Let that sink in for a moment. Paul marveled that followers of Jesus could be tricked into falling back into their Jewish traditions. I once heard that tradition is just peer pressure from dead people. There was no clear conscience for the Jew before that generation. Once a year a sacrifice was made, but everyone knew there would be another. In today’s message, Pastor Mark us of the finished work of Jesus, and what exactly He accomplished. The blood of Jesus reconciled you to the Father. Not your church attendance, not your good deeds. You know a tree by its fruit, if you believe right you’ll produce righteous fruit. If you make a tree good its fruit will be good.

Have you been to a church before that told you; that to be right with God you have to do a bunch of stuff? All the while they reinforced that you’ll never do enough to please Him. Friend, I’m telling you that the righteousness of God talked about in the Bible has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with Jesus. In today’s message, Pastor Mark reminds us of a biblical truth, that righteousness, is to be right with God. Not kind of right, not getting right, but right now we’re right with God because of what Jesus did. He finished the work on the cross, and we’re justified by grace through Faith in Christ alone, lest anyone should boast.

In our current culture, one of the biggest barriers to accepting Jesus is believing that someone who claims to be good could allow so much suffering. Every day, our world experiences more and more suffering, with seemingly no end in sight. In the midst of all of this, how do we know that Jesus is who He says He is? If you’re struggling with accepting God’s grace, Pastor Mark wants you to know that the state of our world today is never what God intended. When He created you and the rest of the heavens, it was perfect. He never wanted to be separated from you. Align yourself with a God who has always had you on His heart and mind.
