This week Mike delves into the arc of the main Star Wars comics featuring the near-900 year old jedi master Yoda, set before The Phantom Menace! This arc includes Yoda saving a force sensitive child from pirates, learning a “new force power” from an unexpected master, living rock and how Yoda’s involvement in a secret war catches up to Luke nearly 35 years later!

For the first two & a half minutes of this pod, Mike talks about the new weekly Mandalorian show under the SWCIC banner on this feed, there are no spoilers in this episode (so fear not!), but you can just skip to the 2 minute mark if you aren’t fussed!

Mike also recommends checking out the last four episodes of season 6 of The Clone Wars (episodes 10-13) as they centre around Yoda learning about force ghosts, Dagobah and other Force-related things (you don’t need to watch any other episodes of CW as these four standalone).

For Yoda's Secret War, Jason Aaron was the writer, with Salvador Larroca as the artist and Edgar Delgado as the colourist. The cover artist was Stuart Immonen. Issue 26 was released December 2016 and issue 30 was out April 2017, the trade paperback (vol 5 of SW) was out July 2017 and this arc is included in the Journals Of Obi-Wan Kenobi collection released mid-November 2020.

Last week, in episode 32, Mike tackled the other 4 stories present in the Journals Of Old Ben/Obi-Wan which focus on his time on Tatooine, so be sure to check that out too!

Mike was recently on the Scott Pilgrim Vs The World review for the TV & Movies show on Comics In Motion where he discussed the movie with Dave of CiM and Tony of Indie Comic Spotlight, found on this feed (dated 8thOctober) check it out here: https://spoti.fi/33I9N5L

Mike also appeared on the second episode of Comics On Trial, defending The Phantom Menace against Scott of 20th Century Geek, with Paul of Superheroes For Dummies as the judge, also found on this feed (20th September): https://spoti.fi/2FTjvZI

Mike is also the host of a podcast called Genuine Chit-Chat where he speaks with a different guest each week about a wide array of topics where no subject is off limits – GCC can be listened to in the same place you’re listening to this show, so there’s no excuse to not check it out!

Chris & Dave of Comics In Motion featured on episode 91 of GCC, plus Chris was on episode 89 of GCC to talk about wrestling and Dave is on episode 90, talking with Max of Mandatory Marvel & DC about the recent DC movies! Chris & Dave of Comics In Motion were on episodes 63 & 75 of GCC together and Mike was on episodes 75 & 100 of Comics In Motion!

Email Mike at [email protected] or find him on social media @GenuineChitChat on Twitter, @Genuine_ChitChat on Instagram and /GenuineChitChat on Facebook!

As it's the 5th of November we thought we'd go back to 2006 for a look at a dystopian future with V for Vendetta. Created by Alan Moore (though uncredited at his own request) and David Lloyd, this movie stars Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman, Stephen Fry, Stephen Rea and John Hurt. But how does this adaptation stand up today? Maybe a little too uncomfortably well.
