- Carol starts as a woman in a position of power. Unusual for the time.
- Ends up as a potential love interest of Mar-Vell, much like Lois Lane was to Superman at the time.

- Carol’s new look and attitude very much based on Gloria Steinem, who also co-founded Ms. Magazine (featuring Wonder Woman on the first issue).
- The callback to 1940s Captain Marvel was a nice touch
- Quickly got her memory issues sorted out. Changed costume in #19. Series ended with #23.
- Spider-Man and Mary Jane cameos
- Duane is not a fan of the black-outs and how this story hints at what is obviously going on.
Avengers #200
- Lots of writers and yet...
- Super messed up. Very weird and sexist. No idea what the writers were trying to accomplish, but nothing about this story sat right.
- Almost immediately this story was recognized to be super messed up.
- Chris Claremont tried to fix things a bit in Avengers Annual #10 by giving Carol a chance to lay into the team
Uncanny X-Men #164
- The Brood are the worst. Look very much like the alien from Alien or the Gorn on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
- New powers are radiation based, and are top-notch. Makes her one of the most powerful people in the Marvel Universe.
- Had been with the X-Men since Prof X helped her get her memories back
Captain Marvel (2012) #1-6
- Saved the best for last
- Standing on the shoulders of two giants - the previous Captain Marvels and earlier female pilots
- Ultimately Danvers herself gets to decide if she wants to keep the life she has (with powers) or change her fate and go without. Very Empowering

- Ben is really, really awful in these books. Sort of the designated racist of the FF.
- Duane learned a bit about Maximus, Medusa, Crystal and met Gorgon and Karnak for the first time
- The person without super powers – Wyatt Wingfoot – saves the day by freeing Johnny Storm and by extension the rest of the FF.
Jungle Action #6 (and #7)
- Killmonger is angry from the start
- T’Challa is shown to be trapped between duties to two worlds
- There’s a really cool page of maps - the Land of Wakanda and Central Wakanda included as the last page of this book
- McGregor and artist P. Craig Russell were behind the first interracial romantic kiss in mainstream comics, which happened in a 1975 Killraven story.
Black Panther Vol 3 #1-12
- Part of the Marvel Knights imprint.
- Somewhat confusing Storytelling in that the entire story is being told by Everett Ross to his boss (and partner Nikki – office of the chief of protocol)
- Some fantastic things happen across 12 books, Go to hell with Memphisto, get captured by Kraven the Hunter, Dealing with the White Wolf – a sorta half brother, saves an ex from death – Monica Lynne, has a run-in with the Avengers and defeats a guy trying to take over Wakanda while he’s away. Oh and save his step-mother.
- Does seem like there was some additional context in books outside Black Panther – Captain America specifically? Apparently there's not.
- Art style is really interesting in this series. Especially given everything that happened. Really cool seeing the Avengers Incident issue (book #8) is drawn old school for the first 6 pages.
