  • 5 Minute Drill | Try This When You're Not Sure What To Do

How hard is it for you to sit on a decision?

You know you need to make it, but you just don't know what to do.

It's SOOOOO dang hard for me to be in this place, especially if it's a BIG decision.

But I've learned that if I don't have peace about a decision, that's God telling me he doesn't want me to make it…yet.

    He wants me to WAIT.

    But when do you go?

Because this is another thing I've learned…

If you start moving in the direction of where you're NOT supposed to go, chances are you'll get that uneasy gut feeling.

It's the CRAZIEST thing I've ever experienced. But that's when I know I'm hearing from God…that, "hey, man, hold up here."

In today's 5-Minute Drill, I share my go-to strategy for when I'm just not sure what to do…it's something you can use when you don't have clarity and peace around a decision.

    Just know this…

God doesn't want you confused. He wants you CLEAR.

    LET'S GET IT!

    [00:01 - 09:25] Opening Segment

    • Story about a friend who seemed to be missing something when making a decision

    [09:26 - 15:25] What's The Drill?

    • Step 1 - Find a quiet place.

    • Step 2 - Decide what you're going to focus on.

    • Step 3 - Put the clarity you're seeking front and center, phrasing it as a question in the second-person and asking it out loud.

    • Step 4 - Start your timer, close your eyes, connect with your body and breath. Then shift to your focal point.

    • Step 5 - When the timer goes off, pause for a second.
      • Got anything? Any more clarity? If yes, great.
      • If not, plan another session during the day. And stay patient. WAIT FOR PEACE.

    [15:26 - 17:37] Wrapping up!

  • Wednesday Recap | Richie Schmock

Trust is a scary thing sometimes.

Especially when it comes to following the advice from someone you trust.

There have been several instances where I followed someone else's advice and didn't ask why they gave the advice they gave…

Because I was in a pinch.

I didn't have "time" to ask why. I just needed to go.

I went all right - in some cases, it worked out well. In others, I fell into a hole and spent more time, money, and energy to get out.

In one case - I missed an opportunity to learn.

In the other case, I learned all right - the hard way.

KNOWLEDGE is power. It can prevent you from falling into the proverbial hole.

So that's why asking WHY is such a powerful tool. It's followed by knowledge.

In today's episode of Coming Up Clutch™️, I summarize the Top 3 nuggets from Monday's interview with Richie Schmock - advisor to some of the wealthiest people on the planet.

We get into the WHY question and so much more.

If you want to learn how the wealthiest people in the world make decisions around their money and life, lock in to get the cliffs notes version of my interview with Richie.

  • Lindsay Berra | Yogi Berra's Granddaughter Shares the Keys Behind Her and the Yankees Legend's Success

Ever wonder about what made some of the world's greatest sports legends tick? What REALLY happened behind the scenes with their lives and impact on their families?

    I do…ALL the time.

Since Kobe Bryant's passing, I'm starting to see a lot more come out about him - his approach to his sport, his life, and his family.

    It's inspiring.

So that's why I wanted to get my friend, Lindsay Berra, on the mic.

Her grandfather, Yogi Berra, didn't become a sports legend and icon just because of the way he played…

He became a legend because of the way he LIVED.

And the legacy he left with his family was inspiring to say the least.

Not only will Lindsay and I talk about what Yogi was like off the field, we're going to dig into the traits he instilled in her…

Because Lindsay is a trailblazer in her own right…

    • 13 years at ESPN
    • 5 years at MLB Network and MLB.com
    • Writer for the Sports Business Journal, New York Times, Men's Health, and a ton more
    • Dual-sport student-athlete at the University of North Carolina

In this episode, we talk about…

    • What helped Yogi Berra come up in the clutch over and over again
    • A common trend when it comes to high-achievers falling short of their ultimate best
    • How to handle pressure, especially when deadlines are constant and expectations are high

    And, of course…

    • What it was like having a @yankees legend as your grandfather

If you want to learn from one of the greatest sports figures of all time, this is the interview for you!

  • 5 Minute Drill | Zone In to Break Out.

    Busy is an excuse.

Took me 30+ years and a LOT of coaching to realize that.

For some reason, being busy has become a badge of honor.

In reality, it's a right of passage…to BURNOUT.

The ultra-successful aren't burned out…they're bold when it comes to what goes on their calendar. It's how they achieve BIG things.

In today's 5-Minute Drill, I share a strategy that will help you get more of what you want done and eliminate all the BS causing chaos on your calendar…

So YOU can achieve BIG things.

    CHAOS leads to CRISIS…

    CONTROL leads to CLUTCH.

I know which one you prefer, so let's get after it today.

Part 2 in my 4-Part Series on creating your Clutch Calendar has officially dropped.

    LET'S GET IT!

    [00:03 - 08:19] Opening Segment

    • What my coach had me do that led to my life, career, and marriage turnaround

    [08:20 - 16:49] What's The Drill? Part 2 of the Clutch Calendar™ Design Process

    • Step 1 - Download my template, then grab two pieces of paper (or create two Google Docs. Whatever you prefer.).

    • Step 2 - On the one doc or piece of paper, create a list with four columns, labeled Sweet Spot, End Zone, Red Zone, No Zone. Put it to the side for a minute.

    • Step 3 - On the other doc or piece of paper, title it "My activities" and think through and write down all the activities you complete throughout your typical day and week.

    • Step 4 - With that list of activities in front of you, pick up Doc #1 (with your four columns containing the four zones) and organize every activity you wrote down into one of the four Zones.

    [16:50 - 18:20] Wrapping up!

    • What's coming up on the next episode
    • Final words
