In today’s episode, I introduce you to Occupational Therapist and Yoga Therapist, Laura Staton (and my yoga instructor!) who is passionate about using yoga and occupational therapy to help people fully participate in living their best lives. Listen in as Laura explains how yoga can be a vehicle to guiding you to understand and connect with your body, while providing safe and healing access to your emotional state. I also share my journey from overcoming my fear of yoga to creating a daily yoga practice that has become a foundational part of my healing journey. Laura and I discuss how yoga is accessible to all bodies, and why practicing yoga, in any form, is a part of living a positively anti-inflammatory life.

Laura Staton is an Occupational Therapist and certified Yoga Therapist and her recent book bridging these two disciplines, Yoga Bones - A Comprehensive Guide to Managing Pain and Orthopedic Injuries Through Yoga, was published in 2021. Laura works in a hospital part-time and the rest of her time teaches yoga in NYC (and online), specializing in injury rehabilitation, fall prevention and pain management. Her next fun gig will be teaching a course on managing sciatica and herniations for YogaUOnline in February 2022. For many years, she was a dancer and choreographer in NYC.
