Winter storm Kade has already strengthened to levels unanticipated by earlier model runs, and will continue to intensify over the next few days. Warm/moist air from the Gulf of Mexico is fueling the energy of this system, while a large digging trough brings down the cold air that is necessary for heavy snowfall. Kade has already brought more snow to El Paso than they’ve seen in 32 years. Winter Weather Advisories continue from New Mexico all the way up to Maine. Thunderstorms and even a couple of tornadoes are forecasted for the Southeast, while the Northeast could see some double digit snowfall totals.

Winter Storm Kade brought 1.5 feet of snow to Salt Lake City, and it is continuing its path across the rest of the country. It will bring snow to parts of the South, Midwest, and Northeast, as well as rain for basically all of the Southeast.

A large trough is moving through the country over the next week bringing along rain and snow with it. Parts of Texas could see over 10 inches of snow in the coming days, and then parts of the Northeast could see over 10 inches later in the week.
