This short parable has much to say about another hidden flaw trying to infiltrate the Kingdom of God- human pride. Whether the small size of a mustard seed (our faith), or the large size of a mustard weed (small tree), trying to be something we are not is not a part of the Kingdom of God.

Is the world getting better or worse?
Sometimes I can’t believe my ears when I hear about the holocaust, or the crusades or how barbaric cultures have treated people in the past. Have we evolved and learned from the past?
In this next story about the Kingdom of God, Jesus helps the listener to understand that things are getting better and worse. We will learn more about our context on earth and how to be ready for what is coming.

Seven years ago, August 2010, a single block of rock, weighing 770,000 tons, broke loose from within a Copper mine in Chile, trapping 33 miners in the longest underground entrapment in history. What saved their lives was a 4.5-inch diameter ‘lifeline’ to the world above. This weekend we discuss our ‘lifeline’, referring to our access to God by the Holy Spirit a.k.a. illumination! How do I gain access? What does it look like when I come to God through the Scriptures?

Pastor Bobby has often reminded us that we have more of a purpose in life than to just dig ditches, to make money, to buy food, to have strength to dig ditches, to make money…
But sometimes we lose track, get caught up in that cycle and don’t realize why we seem to be running in circles and making little to no difference.
This weekend we will be looking further into our Advance initiative of cultivating a Missional Mindset. We will explore Jesus’ words about our thirsts and what will happen when our thirsts are truly satisfied. Join us with expectancy and ask God to reveal and renew his purpose in your life.

Some scars run deep! People hurt each other all the time. We wrestle with questions like, “Do I harbor resentment? Will that poison me in time?” “What does genuine forgiveness require of me?” Some will say, “I’ve forgiven him, I just never want to see him again.” This weekend we will take a closer look at how we relate to people when it comes to forgiveness and reconciliation. Let’s ask God to help us understand where we are and what will help us stay healthy and joyful.

Where was God on the night that tragedy struck? If God is all loving and all-powerful, then why did He not intervene? Some might even say this proves that He does not exist! Could it be that we presume that the path of life is best without suffering? Could our perspective be limited? Could the suffering we see around us only be a portion of a larger context? If God exists, then what is His perspective?
