Today Julie and Samuel sit down with an amazing woman, Patty McClarren MSSA, LSW. Patty has the awesome perspective of being an adoptee and a therapist. We talk about triads, constellations, first families, and what language to use with adoptees. We discuss grief and trauma. The conversation is about adoptive families, but this episode is relevant to people and families of all kinds!

Hey neighbors! Life has been a roller coaster the last few weeks, but I wanted to reach out and share my thoughts about "Hey Warrior." It's an awesome book that encourages learning about your amygdala so you can better control your anxiety, depression, or similar body reactions. It says it's a "book for kids," but I found tons of useful tips in here.
We are excited to reach out again in the pandemic and will continue to post episodes! Thank you all for your continual support!

Julie dives into a book centered around adoptive kids and their parents: 20 Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew by Sherrie Eldridge. This book covers the thoughts and feelings going through the minds of adopted kids and the relationships that are created around the adoptive family. Julie covers the complex, layered emotions that a child of adoption could go through.

This week we celebrate everything that has happened recently in our lives! All of us have been blessed in different ways, so we practice good self-care and celebrate properly. Samuel has a new job, Sarah bought a house, and Mom celebrates 50 plus a new career. We take time to reflect on the year we've had and how the episodes have flown by. We also take a minute to thank our listeners and read some reviews on-air. Here's to another 50!
Special thanks to Lisa and Adrianne! We're thinking of you!
