  • Real Abortion News #97 - Supreme Court Reconsiders Abortion--Threatens Roe v Wade

    Originally aired November 2019

The fall term of the U.S. Supreme Court has begun. Abortion activists and politicians fear the new conservative leaning court will take up one or more of the several abortion cases which have made their way through the legal pipeline from Louisiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. Justice Clarence Thomas has already made his view clear stating, “The Constitution itself is silent on abortion.” If the court decides to hear one or more of these abortion cases, there is a very strong possibility that the 1973 Supreme Court case legalizing abortion, Roe v Wade, will be modified, if not overturned. Should this happen, it would not make abortion illegal, it would simply put the issue back into the hands of individual states to decide for themselves whether abortion should be legal within their own borders.

  • Real Abortion News #96 - California Requires Universities to Provide Chemical Abortion?

    Originally aired November 2019

On October 11, 2019 California Governor signed a bill forcing all public college and university campuses to provide students with on-campus access to chemical abortion drugs. The FDA recommends restricted use of chemical abortion without direct medical supervision. The reason for the FDA’s hesitancy is published in a 2018 report of adverse effects. It details thousands of incidences of serious adverse effects to women; including hospitalizations, blood loss requiring blood transfusions, severe infections, ectopic pregnancies, and death.

Abortion has never been considered medical care according to traditional medical ethics because it neither heals nor maintains the health of the patient. The data is enough to demonstrate why chemical abortions are bad for women. Why then would any government feel compelled to force medical providers and educators to participate in abortion against their conscience and the good health of the student?

  • Real Abortion News #95 - Trump Tells U.N. Every Child, Born and Unborn, Gift from God

    Originally aired November 2019

September began the 74th United Nations General Assembly. It was there that President Trump declared, “Global bureaucrats have no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that wish to protect innocent life….we in America believe that every child, born and unborn, is a sacred gift from God.”

Trump’s pro-life declaration to global leaders was the crowning moment of weeks of international pro-life coalition building. Earlier in the week U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar along with ministers representing four of the six World Health Organization regions revealed a joint statement maintaining in part, “We do not support…ambiguous terms…such as…reproductive rights in U.N. documents, because they can undermine the critical role of the family and promote practices, like abortion….There is no international right to an abortion and these terms should not be used to promote pro-abortion policies.”

  • Real Abortion News #94 - Are NY Abortion Businesses Gaming the Medicaid System?

    Originally aired October 2019

According to recently published data from the New York State Department of Health, tax payers fund 48% of all abortions in NY. Assuming an average cost of $700, New Yorkers spent $26M on abortion in 2017. Tax payer funding for abortion doubled in Rochester in just one year and jumped 22.3% in Buffalo despite a Statewide drop of 8% overall over the same timeframe. Erie and Monroe Counties are a statistical red flag.

Abortion numbers change according along typical patters including type of procedure and type of payment. What stands out here is that the increase in Medicaid funded abortion directly parallels the increase in chemical abortions almost one for one.

This increase in Medicaid funded abortion translates into almost a half a million dollars in increased revenue for local abortion businesses. Are abortion businesses gaming the Medicaid system?

  • Real Abortion News #93 - U.S. Abortion Hits All-Time Low

    Originally aired October 2019

According to an annual abortion census the U.S. has experienced “dramatic changes in the abortion landscape.” The abortion rate is the lowest it has been since 1973 when abortion was effectively legalized by the Supreme Court. A review of the census argues that the data depicts a U.S. population that is trending more toward life both in terms of opinion as well as behavior.

Since 2011 the abortion rate declined 20%. More impressively, since 1980 the rate plummeted 53%. The review points out that the population is turning its back on abortion as a solution. One pointer is how unintended pregnancies are handled. In 1981, 54% of unplanned pregnancies were aborted compared to 42% 30 years later. This seems to demonstrate the long term effectiveness of pro-life efforts to help at risk mothers and educate the public.

  • Real Abortion News #92 - Abortionist Behaves Like a Serial Killer

    Originally aired October 2019

On September 3rd Indiana abortionist Ulrich Klopher died. On September 12th the remains of 2,246 aborted babies were found in his garage in Illinois. The Attorneys General for both Illinois and Indiana agreed to work together on their investigations into the gruesome revelation more akin to serial killers than doctors.

Attorney Steve Aden of Americans United for Life said, “We’re all aware (or should be) of the horrors committed by abortionist Kermit Gosnell at his clinic in Philadelphia. But Gosnell wasn’t the beginning of the terrible story of abortion in America, and Ulrich Klopher won’t be the end of it.”

The purpose of medicine is to heal. Given the abortion industry’s sordid history of fraud, abuse, malpractice, and death, the Klopher case is a striking reminder that abortion is the opposite of true medical care.

  • Real Abortion News #91 - Disturbing Health Trend…Chemical Abortion on the Rise

    Originally aired September 2019

According to data published by the Center for Disease Control, abortion in the U.S. is at an all-time low, decreasing 24%since 2006. The disturbing trend is the 114%rise in the use of chemical abortions within that same timeframe. In New York, chemical abortion represents 29.6%of all abortions in 2017, up 12%from the previous year. This is a disturbing trend due to the high risk nature of chemical abortion. Most chemical abortions take place at home without direct medical supervision and the negative side-effects of the drugs include serious and sometimes fatal excessive bleeding and bacterial infection. Even the FDA warns against use of chemical abortion without direct medical oversight. So why would an abortionist be willing to endanger a woman’s health by sending her home with these pills? Could it be less work for more money?

  • Real Abortion News #90 - NY Abortion Continues Down Trend Despite Deregulation

    Originally aired September

New York State is the nation’s abortion capital. Recently the NY State Department of Vital Statistics released its annual summary of abortion activity. Abortion continues its decade long downward trend. When the slide began in 2006, abortions numbered over 121,000 in NY. Since then abortions, are down 46% to 77,810. The most recent year over year comparison saw the number fall by 5%.

Conventional wisdom might dictate that extreme abortion expansion laws for which New York has become notorious, would cause abortions to increase but the opposite is happening. Despite the happy fact that fewer women feel like abortion is their only choice, Medicaid funded abortions still account for about half all abortions, which, according to a freshly published poll, continues making a plurality of taxpayers unhappy.

  • Real Abortion News #89 - Diverse Coalition of Buffalo Church Leaders Stand Against Abortion Expansion

    Originally aired September 2019

A diverse forum of Buffalo area church leaders met on September 10 to discuss how to push back on New York’s notorious abortion expansion bill. The event invitation was co-signed by well-known WNY church leaders such as Bishop Malone of the Buffalo Diocese, Rev Juan Carlos Rivera of the Assembly of Christian Churches, Rev. Mike Failla of Eight Days of Hope and Kingdom Bound Ministries, Rev Jerry Gillis of the Chapel, and many others. Rev William Gillison of Mt Olive Baptist Church states, “It all comes down to our unwillingness as a society to protect the personhood, of certainly the Black boys and girls, but all preborn babies.” Fellow organizer of the coalition, Father Art Ward of St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church says, “This is not a political issue. This is a human one…. May God help us overcome this inhumanity.”

  • Real Abortion News #88 - Abortion Giant No Longer Eligible for $60 Million in Federal Money

    Originally aired September 2019

In February, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a final rule modifying the use of Title X grant monies by explicitly prohibiting their use in health clinics where abortion is used as a method of family planning. That policy is called the ‘Protect Life Rule.’ The implementation of this rule was suspendedby a court in April. That court’s decision was overturned in July and is being implemented as of August 19. Now the nation’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood, no longer qualifies for the $60 million in Title X grant funding. The rule simply clarifies the longstanding Hyde Amendmentprohibiting the use of Federal tax dollars in funding abortion. Much to the chagrin of the abortion industry, this latest move by HHS is consistent with what the majority of Americans want.
