Episode Sponsors: CCW Safe – CCW Safe is a self-defense coverage provider that helps cover legal costs if you’re ever involved in a self-defense incident. All the training in the world sharpens you for the fight itself — CCW Safe is there for the legal fight that can follow. Visit ccwsafe.com to learn about their coverage options. Defense After Dark Online Course – Today’s episode is also brought to you by Defense After Dark, our online course built around a reality most training ignores: the majority of violent encounters happen in low light. If this episode has you mapping out your next class, this is a great one to add to the list — learn to identify threats, run a light, and defend yourself when you can’t see clearly. About This Episode: Today, Riley Bowman and Jacob Paulsen step off the range and into the classroom — because signing up for a training class is the easy part; actually getting your money’s worth out of it is another story. Whether you’re booking your very first class or your fifteenth, this episode breaks down the habits that separate the students who walk away transformed from the ones who walk away with a certificate and not much else. We get into how to choose the right class for where you actually are, what to do in the days before you ever set foot on the range, the mindset that makes instruction stick, and the step most students skip entirely once class lets out. From a road-rage confrontation that turns into a hard lesson on drawing against an unarmed attacker to a lunchtime rescue nobody saw coming, this episode is packed with real-world defensive gun use stories that test the limits of what you think you know about self-defense. We dig into the tactical trap of the “unarmed but advancing” threat, a homeowner who’d already been targeted more than once, and a self-defense claim a grieving family is fighting out in public. If you prefer to watch the video you can find it at the bottom of this webpage. Episode Sponsors: CCW Safe HK About This Episode: Riley Bowman and Jacob Paulsen are back with another round of Justified Saves, and this one has a theme neither of them went looking for. A Florida homeowner fires through a closed front door. An Arizona homeowner fires at a shadow near a window. A Virginia father blocks in a delivery driver over a speeding complaint while his kids watch from the yard. And a Tulsa business owner draws his gun during what started as a conversation about a repossessed truck. Four cases, four very different endings, and one uncomfortable question running underneath all of them: did you actually know what you were shooting at? Then the guys turn to the saves – a bank customer who steps in when a robber pulls a knife on the tellers, a man who comes back to a house he’d been thrown out of earlier that day and punches his way through the door, and a woman in Broward County who had nowhere left to go. Riley and Jacob break down the legal exposure, the tactical decisions, and the moments where each of these was still winnable. Riley Bowman brings on Tim Herron to discuss a topic that has been popular as of late...red dots or iron sights on handguns. Tim is a USPSA Grand Master and is a national-level top competitor in Single Stack Division. He KNOWS irons sights really well. He also trains hundreds of shooters each year through his training at TimHerronShooting.com. Riley is a bit more comfortable with red dots, but spent the last 6 weeks shooting iron sights getting ready for Production Division Nationals and will bring his perspective as well.
