The reality is: Anytime you start something new or step outside of your comfort zone, there’s a massive learning curve and overwhelm!

In fact, starting my podcast was a perfect way to deepen my empathy for my clients who struggle with the same thing as they start their first consulting or coaching business, build their brand, craft messages and copy and get out there and get clients.

If you’re learning curve overwhelm is stopping you in your tracks, listen into this episode where I’ll share with you the 4 biggest lessons I learned from my first 100 podcast episodes, including:

    • How Parenthood Makes You a Better Leader with Valerie Cockerell (Ep99)
Parenthood: The unsung hero of leadership and consulting success

Agree or disagree: How you parent reflects how you lead in the workplace.

I’d hedge a bet that you agree.

That’s why it’s so important to become more conscious of all the leadership skills you cultivate from raising children so that you can intentionally use them to enhance how you lead, coach, and advise others.

Today’s episode, I’m bringing on leadership consultant, keynote speaker and author of the book Manage Like a Mother: Leadership Lessons Drawn from the Wisdom of Mom, Valerie Cockerell.

On the show Valerie and I chat about her background growing up in France and how she became an operational leader and leadership trainer at Disney. But we focus on how she discovered with all of her formal leadership development training and experience; her greatest leadership lessons came from her time stepping away from her formal career to raise children.

      You’ll hear:

      • [0:02:28]: How Valerie’s love of change and learning led her from her home in France to Disney operational leadership, parenting, consulting, and keynote speaking all around the world
      • [0:12:00]: Why confidence can be lacking when stay-at-home parents re-enter the workforce
      • [0:23:37]: How parenting is an exceptional leadership development opportunity that most people overlook or minimize
      • [0:29:20]: Why more women would be represented in senior leadership if companies offered more flexibility, balance, and appreciation of different leadership styles and experiences
      • [0:37:41]: The competitive leadership advantage of a “mother’s leadership style”
      • [0:42:41]: How the lens of parenting creates a simple, easy framework for developing leaders
      • Listen in and remember that every aspect of our lives serves to develop and grow us into the people, consultants, and coaches that we are and are becoming, including parenting.

Why finding your voice is the key that unlocks your consulting or coaching potential

Finding your voice isn't just about getting on the stage as a speaker; it's the main thing you need to launch your business, create compelling content, write that book you've dreamed about, and yes, take the stage with confidence. Without it, you don't just feel unheard; your entire vision risks fading into the background.

I know what it's like to search for the right words, grapple with self-doubt, and have it stand in the way of your goals as a consultant, coach, writer, and speaker. It's a tough spot when your ideas don't get out there and you’re not making the impact you know is possible.

Can you relate to this silent struggle?

If so, this episode is for you. Join me as I sit down with Sara Giita Flores, a speaking coach and author of the book Unleashing Your Goddess Voice, to guide us through this maze of vocal discovery. Together, we'll explore how to articulate your message with clarity and confidence – from the networking event to the stage as a keynote speaker.

              So tune in and discover…

              • [0:02:22]: How to tell if you’re using your authentic voice (and why you might repress it)
              • [0:09:40]: The real reason why most of us hold ourselves back from speaking our truth with confidence (even we got something important to share)
              • [0:16:55]: Compassionate strategies for overcoming the four visibility fears
              • [0:26:33]: Why you’ll get better ideas if you open yourself up to divine inspiration, even if you’re not spiritual or “woo” type of person
              • [0:37:17]: How to be more confident and effective on stage, even if you never delivered a speech before
              • [0:47:20]: The surprising role that setting effectiveness boundaries plays in your ability to use your voice with power and communicate effectively

If you want to speed up and sustain your success with your consulting or coaching business – you need to first slow down

Want to know the fastest way to make serious money and impact as a consultant or coach? Spoiler alert – it’s NOT “just getting out there and getting clients.”

I get the desire for instant results and the pressure to replace your salary with business revenue, but it sets the stage for “hit or miss” results which not only jacks with your income but also your self-esteem.

Playing the short game is one the biggest reasons why so many consultants and coaches struggle to achieve their full potential – they find themselves in the chase for clients, under-charging their worth, caught in the “hourly” service provider-for-hire trap, struggling with feeling stuck and confused or just giving up on their entrepreneurial dreams altogether.

But it doesn’t have to be this way and here’s how: Go Slow to Grow Fast.

You know that this works because this is the advice you give others, especially if you are an organizational consultant or coach. It’s time to take your own advice and apply it to your own business so that you can achieve lasting success and scale.

In this episode, I not only share with you how achieving sustainable success is a marathon, not a sprint but also the roadmap to a strong, powerful business foundation and a premium brand image that establishes you as an expert -right out of the gate.

                You’ll hear:

                • Why your rush for immediate results can interfere with your long-term success
                • 5 steps to a consulting or coaching business that delivers ongoing profits, using your unique strengths and experiences
                • How to set yourself up to become a thought leader and influencer in your niche
                • As you dive into the episode, pay close attention to what stage your business actually is in so that you can take action to solidify your business foundation.

You look back on your time off and smile at the memories you created. You were fully present with all the holiday festivities and took advantage of your well-deserved downtime (i.e., the reason you became an entrepreneur in the first place, right?)

You look forward to 2024, because now you have a clear vision of what you need to do to finally start your dream consulting/coaching business, market yourself more effectively, land more of the right clients that you can make a difference with or step up your influence and impact as a thought leader.

Pop in your earbuds to discover powerful self-care strategies during the holidays, using archetypes from myth, literature and history that are way more engaging that those proverbial “self-care bubble baths or massages.”

We also talk about how to simultaneously look back at 2023 and look forward to 2024 and how to use both perspectives to craft meaningful business intentions and goals for the new year.

(1:05:48): Secrets to laying out a visionary game plan for 2024 during the holiday calm.

Happy holidays to you and your loved ones. Listen in and remember to use the downtime to balance spending time with loved ones, taking time for yourself, and planning for the new year. May 2024 be the year that all your business visions and dreams come true.

                    12. How to Start Your Coaching Business from Scratch in Less than 90 Days with Kimberly Bolton (Ep91)
Spoiler alert: You don’t need a ton of entrepreneurial experience to launch your own consulting or coaching business

If you’re like a lot of aspiring consulting or coaching business owners, you may have thought, “I’d love to become my own boss, but I don’t have enough entrepreneurial experience or skills!”

And if that’s you, you’re not alone! This is a common barrier when it comes to taking the leap from being an employee into full-time consulting or coaching business ownership.

But here’s the thing. The belief that you “should already know” how to launch a business, market yourself, land clients, and deliver results as a consultant or coach is a total myth. It’s a false belief on the same level as you have to fix your car before you take it to the repair shop, clean your house before the house cleaner shows up, or get healthy before you go to the doctor.

I want to show you why accepting that “You don’t already know how to do this” is EXACTLY what you need to fast-track your business launch and your success. To do that, I’m going to share the inspiring story of my Brand Messaging & Positioning client, Kimberly Bolton.

Kimberly transformed her 20+ year career as an educational leader into her dream coaching business focused on teacher mental health and stress resilience in less than 90 days…even though she had never been an entrepreneur before.

Her example is proof that you can accelerate your launch of a business and breakthrough brand by first embracing what you DON’T know.

Tune in to hear more about Kimberly’s story that totally debunks that “I should already know how to do this” myth.

                      Here’s a glance at this episode…

[0:05:34] - How to tell if you’re ready to start your own business – without second guessing yourself

[0:11:42] - Why what pisses you off SHOWS you exactly what business you’re meant to create

[0:16:32] - The legit reasons why starting your own business is terrifying

[0:24:04] - The #1 thing you need to do to overcome the “I should already know how to do this” myth

[0:47:11] - Simple strategies for dealing with fear and staying focused on your goals

[0:53:48] - Why your passion for your client is what will help you stay out of fear and do what you need to do to build a business you love

So, when you are tempted to wait until “someday” to start your business because of the false belief that you don’t have enough skills to launch a business or market yourself to get clients, consider this: The skills and strategies you need to succeed are EXACTLY what you’ll develop as you go about developing your business.

And if I’m the person to help you turn your career into your own consulting/coaching business, in less than 30 days – would love for you to learn more about what Kimberly and I did to fast-track her dream business launch and then book a call with me so we can co-create your custom solution that maximizes your strengths, time and budget.
