It’s September, which means Games Season is upon us. This week, Anthony talks about Astral Chain and how it represents Nintendo at its strangest, Susan talks about how Man of Medan succeeds where Telling Lies and Erica both fail, and David talks about how Control represents the pinnacle of what Remedy has tried to accomplish for over twenty years.

You’ll be BLESSED once you listen to this episode. This week, we talk about whether indie is even a meaningful word anymore, how absence makes the heart grow fonder with Elder Scrolls, and what it means when unfinished stories finally get the closure they deserve.

You ever think about how weird teeth are? Like, really just sit and marinate on it? Bones in your mouth. Anyway! This week, Susan gets salty about the discourse surrounding microtransactions, Anthony finds that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is giving him what Fire Emblem: Three Houses isn’t, and David talks about Forager, the Nice Game of the summer.

Anthony’s recording in his childhood basement, which means there’s a non-zero chance a wall scroll is going to show up in this episode. This week, we talk about how Susan wants Dragon Quest Builders 2 to stop holding her hand, how David finally powered through Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to get to the good stuff, and how Anthony thinks Bloodstained is a bit too reverent to its past.

For episode 50, we wanted to bring you another one of our very special Commentary Spectaculars. We were hoping to watch the Super Mario Bros. film, but Nintendo is (probably (rightfully)) destroying all digital traces of it from existence. Fortunately, Wing Commander is more than happy to oblige. I mean, how else is Chris Roberts going to cash those royalty checks and put them toward the development of Very Real Game Star Citizen? Also, we had to keep our Matthew Lillard ratio going, which is currently two-for-two on these things.
If you would like to watch along with us, you can rent a digital version of the movie on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFYAhN1shI0
Enjoy? Probably? We apologize in advance.
