Being a car salesman takes a certain personality type.  The same could be said for any customer-facing job, really.  Tom does not have this personality type.  Although we hear the "buy my product or else" method does work, it's generally frowned upon in the industry and is not seen as a long term plan.  And speaking of long term plans, Tom's losing yet more weight thanks to Continuum.  Being healthy is the longest term plan of them all.
