  • PrepperNet's Prepping Academy | Radio Interference - Patrick with Grid Down Comms Up
Today, Grid Down Comms Up takes the microphone again for another great episode of the Prepping Academy. We do a short after-action report on the Eastern Tennessee Homestead Alliance festival, revisit a few items as we approach the one-year anniversary of the historic disaster caused by Hurricane Helene, and talk about radio and communications interference. We look at the common types of manmade interference and what you can do to ensure you aren't the cause, because making lots of people look for you isn't very gray man. We also discuss what you may want to consider adding to your plans if you experience intentional interference during an emergency. We also listened to an example of interference during my time in Eastern Tennessee with GSM and a much more entertaining example of some amateur operators trolling someone who is causing intentional interference to keep him talking until they locate him. I'll see you on the next episode.

  • Survivalist Prepper | Ep414: Following the Prepper “Blueprint” & Canned Food
Today, I go over the real-world challenges that preppers face and explore practical, flexible strategies for building up your food storage. Prepping isn’t one-size-fits-all—what works for one person may not work for another. I break down the most common obstacles and talk about how to navigate them without feeling overwhelmed or breaking the bank. One of the most significant factors I discuss is how your age and physical ability can shape your prepping approach. Whether you’re a young adult with plenty of energy or someone managing mobility issues, there are ways to tailor your food storage plans so they’re accessible, sustainable, and realistic for your situation. Prepping isn’t about outdoing anyone—it’s about preparing in a way that serves you, your family, and your unique needs. Budget is another major hurdle for many people. Stocking up doesn’t have to mean spending a fortune, and in this episode, I go over methods to grow your pantry over time without putting yourself in financial strain. From strategic shopping habits to affordable long-term storage options, you’ll learn how to make steady progress even on a tight budget. I also touch on the dynamic of being the lone prepper in your household. It can be discouraging when others don’t share your urgency, but there are ways to quietly and effectively build your supplies, educate your family over time, and find supportive communities that understand where you’re coming from. Urban versus rural prepping is another key theme, as your environment plays a big role in how you store and access your food. City dwellers and country residents each face unique challenges, and we unpack strategies tailored to both.

  • Ready Your Future | Living in the Economic Downturn and What To Do About It
Are you unknowingly living through a slow economic decline that could devastate your financial future over the next two decades? In this episode of Ready Your Future, Todd reveals how secular stagnation and gradual economic collapse operate like silent erosion, destroying wealth and opportunity so slowly that most people never realize what's happening until it's too late. Unlike the dramatic recession of 2008 or sudden market crashes that grab headlines, this type of economic slow down unfolds over years and generations, creating a new normal where each generation accepts lower living standards as "just the way things are." Todd examines real-world examples from Rome's centuries-long decline to Japan's Lost Decades, showing how civilizations can experience financial stress and economic stagnation for 30+ years while citizens gradually adapt to diminishing prospects. You'll discover the hidden warning signs of slow economic decline already visible in today's economy, from increasing reliance on credit for basic needs to the rise of gig work as necessity rather than choice. This episode provides actionable strategies for building financial resilience during hard times, including specific steps for recession-proofing your career, diversifying income streams, and creating wealth that survives decades of economic uncertainty. Whether you're experiencing financial stress now or want to prepare for the challenging years ahead, this episode equips you with the knowledge and tools to thrive during one of the most significant economic transitions in modern history. • Survival Punk | Ep506: Fortify Your Home: Inside Defense Part 2
In the last episode, we tackled the perimeter—fences, bushes, shutters, and yard dogs. That’s your first line of defense. But what if someone pushes past those layers? That’s when inside fortifications matter most. Your doors, windows, and interior safe zones are the final barriers between your family and a threat.

  • Survivalist Prepper | Ep413: The Real Reasons People Prepare – Beyond the Prepper Stereotype
When most people hear the word “prepper,” they often imagine extreme stereotypes: underground bunkers, gas masks, and stockpiles that could last decades. But the truth is far more relatable and practical. In this video & podcast, I discuss the real reasons why people start thinking about preparedness and why the prepper stereotype doesn’t tell the whole story. Preparedness isn’t about fear or paranoia; it’s about being ready for life’s unexpected challenges, big or small. Across the world, people prepare for regional natural disasters, power grid failures, economic uncertainty, civil unrest, political or social instability, and even global conflicts. These events can and do happen, but preparedness isn’t only about large-scale emergencies. Sometimes, the most important reason to prep is what I call a “personal doomsday”—a sudden job loss, medical crisis, or family emergency that could disrupt your daily life. Having a plan and a stockpile of basic supplies can make a world of difference when things get tough. Preparedness also looks different for everyone. A family in hurricane country might focus on evacuation kits and storm supplies, while someone in an area prone to winter storms will prepare for extended power outages and heating needs. Economic or political uncertainty might inspire others to create a small emergency fund or store extra food. What unites all of these different approaches is the desire for security and peace of mind—not a fear-driven obsession with worst-case scenarios.
