Cornerstone Community Church Vodcast

We’re in a season where the Lord wants us to step into our pre-determined destinies. But before that happens, we should expect to face adversity. This happens to every person who’s seeking to walk in the fullness and highest call of God for his life. The enemy has the right to test and try you, but hear the promise of God – you shall pursue, overtake, and recover all!

This is the 2nd instalment of the series, 'Chasing Perfect'. In this week’s sermon, we explore the concept of Mercy that pertains to perfection. Mercy was the highest quality of the Godhead that was expressed in the Old Covenant and it plays a huge role in our pursuit of perfection.

The calling of Ezekiel as a prophet is outlined in detail for us in Ezekiel chapter 2. This short chapter isn’t just a record of history, but it gives us a blueprint of how God prepares calls, sends, and leads us through the call that He has for us. Knowing this blueprint can help us chart where we are in our journey with Him, and also help us look ahead to what He has in store for us.

The standard Jesus set for us in the Scriptures is nothing less than perfection. He said, "BE ye perfect". He did not say, "TRY to be perfect". In fact, Jesus never told us to try to do anything. He said, "BE holy"; and not "TRY to be holy". He said, "LOVE your enemies"; not "TRY to love your enemies". Why? Because if we try, we'll always fall short. I've tried to be holy, I've tried to pray. I've tried to love those who gave me a hard time, and I've failed time and again. If we were to depend on our own strength or abilities, trust me, we'll always miss the mark of God’s standards. That’s why all the requirements in the New Testament are based on one word – GRACE!

One of the greatest privileges that God has given to mankind is the ability to hear His voice. This is something we must not take for granted because the truth is, not everybody is given this privilege. When God speaks, we must realise it's a great honour that we must not take lightly.

The God we serve is a supernatural God. The Bible we read is a supernatural Book. If you take out the supernatural from the Bible, you don’t have a Bible. There's only one kind of Christianity on this planet – supernatural Christianity. You take out the supernatural from Christianity and you don’t have Christianity. It's time we bring back the supernatural in all that we do!
