In any given day in Australia, Police deal with hundreds of domestic violence matters. Advocates say that many victims don't recognise they’ve experienced sexual abuse. There’s calls for wider community conversations about sex to help remove the feelings of shame.

A new report recommends more training for family violence case workers to identify intimate partner violence.

New South Wales is Australia’s most populous state. Populous, not necessarily popular. All you need to do is look at even a few of the stories covered by YouTuber, Friendly Jordies which the mainstream media doesn’t or won’t cover. Questionable is a word I’d use to describe Australia’s First State.

But yesterday, residents of New South Wales went to the polls to either re-elect the Liberal/National Party Coalition under leader Dominic Perrottet, or change after a decade, under the Labor leadership of Chris Minns.

A fresh report on a cyber attack in Australia, this time from Latitude Financial.

ABC News Australia recently reported that more than a quarter of a million identity documents have been stolen.

Of the 103,000 ID docs, 97% were copies of drivers licenses.

Latitude provides buy now, pay later (BNPL) schemes to major Australian retailers, including Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and David Jones.

Last month Latitude announced it was shutting down that BNPL offering in Australia and New Zealand.

National defence is important particularly in the current global climate, but it’s also a very expensive endeavour. Sometimes I wonder if nation’s spend a little too much on preparing themselves for conflicts that citizens would be hoping never came.

Today I’m going to talk about the AUKUS nuclear powered submarines deal between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Before we get in to what I think, let’s hear the facts.

The AUKUS deal will see Australia spend up to $368 billion to acquire nuclear powered submarines over the next three decades. These subs will replace Australia's ageing diesel-powered Collins Class.

In total, Australia will end up with eight of the new nuclear submarines, called SSN-AUKUS.

Vinyl is divine again it seems. You can’t argue with the numbers.

As reported on The Daily Aus Instagram feed, vinyl records out sold compact discs in the US for the first time since 1987.

Think back, ’87 was the year then US President Ronald Reagan visited West Berlin calling on the leader of the then USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev to pull down the Berlin Wall. Here in Australia Labor Leader Bob Hawke won a third term in government - the first time Labor had won three consecutive elections, and the number one song for 1987 on the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 was from The Bangles, Walk Like An Egyptian.

I probably bought the single on a 45 back then.

The milestone in 2023 was not just a small margin, it was quite sizeable. My good friend Grant will join me on this episode to talk about his love of vinyl and something new that he’s working on.

The RIAA - that’s the Record Industry Association of America, has revealed 41 million vinyl records were sold in 2022, compared to 33 million CD’s.

From Sunday the 19th of March 2023, Monday here in Australia, social media titan Twitter will remove the free text message service used for two factor authentication or 2FA.

The 2FA service will only be accessible to Twitter Blue users after that date.

Musk seems a little unsure on what message to go with in regards to the reason for this.

Cards up front, I am a big admirer of the BBC, The British Broadcasting Corporation. I always have. They’ve produced some fantastic TV programmes over many many years, including Doctor Who. On the whole, I find factual reporting with BBC News, the leader in journalism.

But what’s happened recently in the globally known broadcasters 101st year leaves me concerned for the future and the direction the corporation is being taken.

I’m equally as upfront about Gary Lineker, the BBC’s Match of the Day presenter and former professional footballer. I’d heard his name for some time, he had a cameo in the British comedy film, Bend It Like Beckham, but apart from that I have no real opinion apart from the fact he seems to be a decent person.

Lineker had posted on social media recently his personal views, not those of his employer, the government owned BBC, that the British government’s position on asylum seekers did not sit well with him.

This resulted in the BBC suspending him. But it didn’t end there. Other broadcasters refusing to work in support of Gary Lineker and calls for the Director General of the BBC to resign.
