Counterflow with Buck Johnson

This was recorded live at Renegade University Texas, right here at my home in Lockhart, TX. I had the pleasure of chatting with my friends Tho Bishop and Matt Erickson in front of a live audience. In this discussion, you'll hear some political strategy talk, talk about issues with libertarianism, and more. I really enjoyed doing this, and I think you'll enjoy listening to it! Happy New Year!

My guest this week is the Priest at St. Andrew Orthodox Christian Church in Lockhart, Texas, Father Ignatius. We get into the rich history and traditions of the Orthodox Church: the Divine Liturgy, the icons, the saints, the Church Fathers, and more. His Church proudly never closed their doors during the lockdowns. They remained open, not only for worship, but for clothing, food, and supplies for anyone who needed them during the great snow storm of 2021. "We've never shut our doors for lockdowns, and we never will," he says in our discussion. Father Ignatius also discusses the importance of keeping to the tradition of exactly how they've done communion for thousands of years, despite the pressures of modern day scare tactics from outside the Church. The Orthodox Church remains unchanged for thousands of years, and many people are discovering just how beautiful and important that can be. I think you will really enjoy this discussion.

My guest today is Anne Wilson Smith, author of the book, "Charlottesville Untold". As with most giant stories that happen around the world, the media has their concocted version that they present to the public, and then there is the real story which is rarely given. We have to rely on voices like Anne's to get the actual details. As with the January 6th narrative, the Charlottesville narrative has been so far removed from reality that it's hard to know what exactly happened there. So, Anne is here to tell us exactly that. She was there. She gives her story on what she saw, who was at fault for the craziness that broke out, and all of the details surrounding the event. Tune in and finally get the true story.

My guest this week is Mises Institute Fellow, Patrick Newman. Patrick is an economics professor and author. Today we are discussing themes in his newest book, "Cronyism: Liberty vs Power in America 1607-1849". Even as far back as the 1600's, there have been corporations getting together with the State to gain power that would not have otherwise been possible for them to obtain. Patrick and I discuss that, as well as relating it to where we are now in terms of Cronyism in America. And since I have him on, I'd be remiss is I didn't ask him some pertinent questions about the current state of the economy. I think you'll really enjoy this conversation.

My guests today are on the board of the Libertarian Christian Institute. I've got Dr. Norman Horn and Doug Stuart with me. They are here to discuss the new book from the Libertarian Christian Institute, "Faith Seeking Freedom: Libertarian Christian Answers to Tough Questions". They believe that libertarianism fits quite well with Christianity, and we cover many topics as they demonstrate exactly why they believe so.

My guest on the show this week is the proprietor of the Feminist Current website and the Same Drugs video podcast, Meghan Murphy. Meghan is well known as a feminist who comes from the left. However, with her evolution over recent years, she has come to realize that as some of her stances change, it's better to avoid political labels altogether. While some of her principles remain unchanged, many of her "labels" have been tarnished by others. As you know, some of my labels have been tarnished over the years as well, so I really relate to Meghan on this. We discuss feminism, prostitution, COVID, the patriarchy, Meghan's relocation to Mexico from Canada, and much more. This was a really enjoyable conversation for me, and I think you'll enjoy it too.

My guest today is Sam Jacobs. Sam is the lead writer and chief historian with Ammo.com. We are living in a chaotic clown world right now, and there is a lot of evil surrounding us. Sam believes that ultimately, we will win this battle against this evil. We discuss some of our victories along with the losses of the regime. Sam believes that the regime is up against the ropes, and the more they try to swing, the more regular folks are waking up to the fact that the emperor has no clothes. I think this episode will give you reason for optimism. Sam has a brilliant cultural and political analysis and is one of the most interesting thinkers in our circles.

My guest this week represents Florida's 32nd District, and he represents them well. He is Representative Anthony Sabatini. In this discussion, we get into the Right's historic inability to take advantage of their elected positions to actually fight back against the constant encroachment by the Establishment Left. We talk about the university system, the jab mandates, the problems with the Republican Party, and more. Anthony often finds bigger pushback from his own party than from the Left. Why is that? Tune in and find out!

My guest this week is economist, professor, author, Mises Institute Senior Fellow, and podcast host, Robert Murphy. Bob is here to discuss his new short-form book, "Common Sense: The Case for an Independent Texas". We go through several common issues of pushback when it comes to the State of Texas becoming an independent nation. We talk social security, military, money, and other logistical issues that you will find interesting. Bob and I both agree that secession is imminent and that a peaceful transition is the preferable way.
