Norm Fink graduated from college in 1974, entering an era when automation was just beginning to emerge, predominantly in larger industries. In the late '70s, his family business, a smaller woodworking venture, saw an opportunity for innovation when a family member joined after earning a master's degree in computer science. This prompted a pivotal shift toward computerization, despite initial concerns about the high costs of technology at the time. Driven by a commitment to improvement and inspired by his family member's expertise in software development, Norm became self-taught in computer science, transforming the business landscape with newfound technological capabilities.
