Hey leaders! You’re listening to the Crazy Big Dream Podcast. This is episode 68. The Key To Accountability.
If you have accountability groups, if you help pair team members up as accountability partners, if you do anything to offer accountability to your team this episode is for you. Stick around for the key points I’m sharing with you today.
You can find the full transcript at crazybigdreams.biz/68.
Ok. Accountability. It’s a necessary evil. Well, if you’re looking to grow and build and succeed it is.
If you’re looking to dabble, casually take whatever level of success comes your way, well then accountability is optional.
And this distinction is important. Which is accountability key point #1 of 3 today that I’m sharing with you.
This distinction is important because sometimes we let anyone and everyone join in for the accountability strategies we offer. Don’t we? And there is a place for this, for sure. Because you never know when someone’s going to take it and run with it. Right?
The intentional approach every so often is to offer an exclusive group that you tell everybody about but that you pre-screen, filter, interview, or be choosy regarding who you let into the accountability group or program that you may offer.
How do you do this? This could be as simple as posing a few key questions to help her identify if she is ready or not, right now.
You could also offer something like a Google form or a social media poll, whatever your style is or whatever you find most helpful.
This extra step alone is sometimes enough to weed out those that simply aren’t ready right now. They’re not willing to take the time to make that extra step to do the form or take a poll.
This helps attract and keep those who are serious about results in a timely fashion. Will everyone do everything the group has to offer and embrace accountability? No. Certainly not.
But it will help you save time and headache around those that jump into groups because they want the results, but simply aren’t ready for the accountability. You know the ones. Do not give up on them! This can be difficult to recognize within ourselves. It’s your opportunity as her mentor to help her identify this.
Key #1 is to recognize the distinction and opportunity around someone who self-proclaims she is ready for accountability, ready to grow, to build, and to succeed in a timely fashion and the team members who think they are but maybe need help recognizing if now is the time.
Key #2 is about matching team members as accountability partners. The common misstep here is that many leaders match team members that want to advance to the same level or rank or have something similar in common as individuals.
The problem with this is that the level of drive someone has can easily and quickly fluctuate. Life happens. It happens to all of us. The odds of two people sticking it out when life happens can vary greatly. I’m not saying don’t pair accountability partners.
Key #2 is to always ensure you’re overseeing the partnership. You have to stay involved at some level. You have to have some level of involvement in the accountability, in the relationship, and in the progress.
For all three key points on leading with accountability go to crazybigdreams.biz/68.
Hey savvy leaders! We’re here for episode 67. Mentor Your Direct Sales Team To “Set It And Forget It”. What do I mean by this? Well, it’s all about results and growing your team. Today I’ll give you one of my best strategies for results!
You can find the full transcript of today’s episode at crazybigdreams.biz/67.
Set it and forget it is referring to goals and outcomes, dreams or desires, bucket lists, and targets. How ever you and your team identify what you’re working to achieve you’ll want to mentor them to ‘set it and forget It’.
Setting goals and knowing what you want out of your business is, well, easy. At least easier for you than it is for many of your team members. They simply don’t know yet what they are capable of or the results their journey will lead them to. Right? Maybe you didn’t either at first.
Sure, you all know what’s possible. Yet specific accomplishments will vary for everyone. And sometimes there are team members that really surprise you, right?!
And the one’s you totally anticipate will kill it and be one of your top leaders, sometimes don’t end up performing that way. It’s all good.
But basically, you can’t predict what any one team member will actually accomplish.
What you can do is help them set goals and outcomes and then help them forget it. Of course, you’ll revisit their progress and celebrate huge when the do reach milestones and goals. But along the way, when they’re doing the work, help them focus on their behaviors vs outcomes.
Because you know if they simply focus on what they’re doing day to day, with a consistent focus, and never give up, the outcome will be there. It’s waiting for them! Right?! But shifting a focus from behaviors to outcomes is key!
How you do this as a mentor is to shift your recognition, rewards, and celebrations to their behaviors. You’ll want to set behavior goals and then celebrate as they get accomplished. How you track this and if you use an honor system will simply depend on the activity and behavior.
But you get to choose how you want to mentor. This is the number one strategy to shifting your team’s focus and truly growing your team.
The outcomes and results are secondary.
The behaviors they create with consistency are what you want to teach, design together, celebrate, and reward!
This can be a major ‘aha’ moment for many high-achieving direct sales leaders. The big difference is the focus on celebrating and rewarding behaviors more than outcomes.
You’ll still celebrate the rank advancements and top sales and the trips that are earned. In addition, with much greater frequency, you’ll celebrate and reward the behaviors along the way.
Think about it this way. If someone is working on their health and fitness and have a weight loss goal, she would set a goal of how many pounds she wanted to lose (the outcome goal). It’s then important to set it aside and forget that number.
She would also set a goal of how many ounces of water to drink every day. Maybe what her nutrition will look like every day. Maybe how many steps she’ll move to accomplish every day.
And then create a reward system to celebrate each day she accomplishes one or all of these things. Does that make sense?
So for your team, you may break it down into different daily or weekly behaviors. The day-to-day efforts that you know will lead them to results. And, it’s helpful to have a variety of behaviors for your team to engage with, track, and celebrate.

Hi leaders! We’re here for episode 65! Autonomy.
It is one of the top reasons Direct Sales Leaders report why they love what they do.
Yet it can be both a blessing and a curse.
You can find the full transcript of this episode at crazybigdreams.biz/65.
Autonomy simply put, means to act according to your own desires, interests, and values. It means freedom. It means you get to create something and build something of your own.
This is the blessing. You get to decide when, how, with whom, and in what way serves your own desires and values. Amazing!
The curse?
Well, for some, it’s very much the same thing. Too much freedom can be paralyzing for some of your emerging leaders, and even for some of you already at the top of your rank structure.
Because there’s no one else that’s done it before. There’s not even a little bit of structure or path to follow if you’re in the group of firsts to pave the way. Exciting! But a blessing and a curse at the same time.
In my experience, every leader does their best with their own unique ratio of structure and autonomy.
In some areas, the structure is helpful. It’s typically helpful in areas you do not have an interest a value or a desire. You want it to just be done for you so you can focus and soar in the areas you do have interests and desires.
Your role as a leader means you get to gauge this unique ratio of structure and autonomy with your emerging leaders. And this unique ratio may look very different than yours. And it may look very different from one leader to the next.
The joys of mentorship.
Many times, your emerging leaders won’t even know themselves, or what their ideal ratio of structure and autonomy is because this is all new.
First things first, get super clear on your own interests, values, and desires. Then identify the areas that are likely a thorn in your side that keeps nagging at you because your interest just isn’t there.
One example, maybe you’re not into earning the next trip, for whatever reason. It conflicts with a family trip, a family event that you don’t want to miss. But you need to communicate the conditions and help your team know how to earn it.
You still have to familiarize yourself with all the things so that you can speak to them and support your team.
What about your emerging leaders? Are they interested in the next trip? Or not? Do you see the trickle-down impact here? Where do their interests lie that meet the interests of their team members and where are the gaps?
Autonomy can be a blessing and a curse. Ok, maybe not quite a curse, but you get the idea. And the importance of not only identifying this for yourself but helping your emerging leaders navigate this as well.
It’s knowing where your autonomy blind spots are and then addressing them. Because everyone has them. They just may be different from one leader to the next.
Maybe it’s not an incentive trip. The point is to identify where your interests and desires are and where they aren’t. Help your emerging leaders to see this as well. How you mentor them on this is well, another area of autonomy. You get to decide. You have the freedom to navigate this.
The importance of doing so is to build a well-rounded group of leaders and a deep, connected team that feels included in a group where her own interests and desires, and values have a place. Even if they're different.

Hi leaders! Welcome to episode 64! Let’s talk about leverage. More specifically, the things you can’t leverage.
These things are incredibly common. Know that most leaders have done things they can’t leverage and sometimes, repeatedly. It’s so normal!
Sometimes all it takes is a moment to shine a spotlight on it and give permission to let it go, resource it, or shift your focus. So that’s what we’re doing today.
You can find the full transcript of this episode at crazybigdreams.biz/64.
Now, when I’m working with a leader it’s much easier to look at things from my vantage point to identify where her tendencies are.
It’s a bit more difficult to see when you’re so close to it.
I’ll break it down by sharing three incredibly common areas I see. You’ll have to pause to check where your focus and habits are to identify which, if any of these, apply to you.
Number one: Unpopular decisions your company makes.
Hello! Likely the most common. You simply can’t leverage these decisions. From every angle they are unpopular. You can’t spin it, pretend you agree when you don’t, ignore it, or crawl in a hole and hide from it. Even though you may want to do some or all of these things.
What you can do is address it head-on with class and grace.
How you do this and with whom can vary from one unpopular decision to the next. This is what leadership is all about. It’s how you become the leader you’re meant to. Embrace it.
Number two: One-on-one training, onboarding, meetings, interviews, you name it.
Doing almost anything one-on-one is something you can’t leverage. You can leverage your time and opportunity significantly more when you bring in at least one other client, team member, or mentor.
What are you still doing one-on-one? How can you leverage this time and opportunity better?
Last but not least, number three: Your weaknesses.
We all have them. It’s important as a leader to know your strengths and weaknesses. It’s smart as a leader to stop trying to leverage your weaknesses. Let it go. Resource it out. Stop fighting it.
Shift your focus to your strengths.
Let me take this opportunity to address the word “weakness”. Some don’t like it. I get it.
I like to recognize weakness as an opportunity or something that may get in the way of your strengths. A weakness can be something that pulls your focus away from your gifts, talents, passions, or purpose.
That’s all. Nothing more. It’s not a label. It’s just a word.
This last one really catches almost everything else we’re trying to leverage but would benefit if we didn’t. Whether your weakness is attention to detail, organization, planning, follow through, systems, you name it.
We simply can’t leverage our weaknesses. We can leverage our strengths. And this is where you shine. This is how you grow as a leader. This is where you open up a whole new world of possibility for your success and your team's success.
I hope I’ve given you some important areas to truly consider what you can and can’t leverage. Here’s your permission. Let it go. Resource it out. Shift your focus.
These three are just a start. What else did you discover today that you can stop doing because you can’t leverage it? Click over to Instagram @yourcrazybigdreams and tag another leader who needs to hear this message.
The best is yet to come. Always.
Hi leaders! Welcome to episode 63! Leadership.
Today we’re talking about where to direct your focus as you develop as a leader. And also what not to focus on.
You can find the full transcript of this episode at crazybigdreams.biz/63.
Leadership is kind of a big word with a lot to it. It can mean different things to different people.
Sure there are some common traits most would agree on about leadership. Like willingness to listen and really hear your people. Integrity. And being trustworthy just to name a few.
When team members have ideas about what makes a good leader, these ideas typically originate from a place of need. What that individual feels she needs from you in order to see success.
The problem with this is these needs can be quite different from one team member to another.
Where To Focus As A Leader In Direct Sales
The better approach is to guide your focus on what your business needs. This way, you can approach being the best leader you were meant to grow and develop into as only you can.
And you know what, your team members will, of course, get what they need to be successful.
There is no one else like you. And the leader you are meant to become is based on your innate strengths.
I know it sounds cliché to tell you there is no one else like you. But I share it because most leaders I work with benefit from the reminder.
What Sets You Apart As A Savvy Direct Sales Leader
Both your success journey in business and your life experiences. The challenges you’ve met. The hardships you’ve endured. The trauma you’ve experienced. As well as the milestones you’ve accomplished. The success you’ve worked so hard for. The amazing trips you’ve taken.
Everything you’ve experienced comes together in this unique and beautiful offering that only you can give. And this all weaves together with your strengths to create the one and only unique leadership experience that you are meant to share with your team.
While growing into the leader you’re becoming it’s effective to focus more on what your business needs than what each individual team member needs. I’m not suggesting to discredit their needs.
I’m offering that when you focus on what the business needs, you’ll have forward movement and growth into the leader you need to become to then meet the needs of your team. But start with what your business needs. And the rest will fall into place.
How Direct Sales Leaders Lead Their Team To Success
Your team will get just what they need from you and then some when you start with a visionary focus and unite everyone in the same direction.
With a focus on what your business needs first, you’ll pave forward momentum along your success journey. What an important example to be to your team. It shows them they can do the same thing for the same reasons.
They will each need to be their own visionary in their own way with their own strengths for their own team. And by you leading the way with this, it helps guide each of your leaders and show them how it’s done.
The key is to remember no one can lead with your unique vision and strengths. What a beautiful message each of your emerging leaders can witness from you and take to heart as she paves her own path to success.
I hope you’ll click over to Instagram @yourcrazybigdreams and let me know one life or business experience that came to you when listening today. It’s sure to shape you as a leader.
The best is yet to come. Always.
Hey savvy leaders! It’s episode 62 today! All about my favorite way to build connection for you and your direct sales team.
If the events of the world have you feeling like you want to re-group and build connection again…
If you’re looking for a new way to remind your team you care about them as people first and team members second…
If you feel like a pause, a release, or a reset would benefit you. It most certainly will benefit the gals on your team.
Today I’m sharing my favorite, impactful idea on how to do this.
You can find the full transcript of this episode at crazybigdreams.biz/62.
This is just one idea. There are lots of different ways to do this. And maybe this is something you’ve done before.
Maybe it’s time to do it again.
Maybe you’ve never done this and it will be a fun new adventure for you and your team.
My favorite way to build connection is through physical activity, especially yoga. Hear me out. You don’t need a message on all the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga.
Instead, I am here to share how this activity can build connection for you and your team. Really most physical activities will, and I’ll give you other examples in a minute. This connection-building doesn’t have to be yoga.
But I am a bit biased about yoga as the option here for very good reasons not just because I practice yoga myself and also teach it, but because of the gifts it gives in unity, connection, and lessons on and off the mat.
Yes, I am guiding you toward gathering in person with those that are geographically close. And I realize not everyone is. That’s ok. These benefits happen to occur when you’re together in the same space. The impact is not the same if you’re gathering virtually as you might imagine.
If there are groups of team members in other geographic areas, encourage them to get together the same day the rest of you are.
Although there are other activities, other than yoga that you can do together, and we’ll talk about those in just a minute, yoga is my favorite way for you to build connection with your team. Let me tell you why.
One
Yoga means union. It’s an activity of connecting to yourself and to others. Each person practices as an individual but also as a collective group, coming together by simply breathing the same air and uniting together in the same poses, even when those poses may be modified.
It’s like this, you feel unity and connection when a few or even a group of people make a collective sigh of relief all at the same time together. Or take a deep breath together. Right?
This is a small, small example of how yoga can unite individuals.
Two
The lessons learned on the mat carry directly into life off the mat.
Is the room too hot, do you feel tired, is your mind wandering everywhere, do you want to quit, run out of the room because you’re uncomfortable and it’s easier to just stop or is class moving too fast and you want to slow down because you simply need rest.
Are you listening to your body on the mat and off the mat? Are you directing discomfort and lack of perseverance to others or external factors? Or are you recognizing what you can influence in a deep connection with yourself?
We all bump up against life and business situations that are difficult or feel close to impossible. We may tell ourselves to quit or give up.
For much more on building connection with your team get the full transcript at crazybigdreams.biz/62.
Hey leaders! I’m so thrilled you tuned in for today’s strategy session!
Episode 61 is all about patterns and how they reveal the next area of growth for you as a savvy direct sales leader.
When I talk about patterns, I’m referring to the autopilot mode we can coast in. The areas of habit we can get stuck in and typically not even realize!
For many leaders this is either a blind spot they are not even aware of. And for other leaders, their patterns can be annoyingly obvious to themselves.
You can find the full transcript of this episode at crazybigdreams.biz/61.
Some leaders that have a blind spot they may be on autopilot with and not even be aware of can really be taken by surprise when they discover it. I’ve often heard “I don’t do that, do I?” or “That’s not me and never my intention.”
Many times this shows up in situations where their actions don’t support their words. They say one thing but often don’t practice it themselves.
This so often comes down to the business basics that leaders did when they started out, but have gotten away from. So common! And easily comes with the territory of success and mentorship.
Some want to and need to get back to the basics. Others have reached a completely different level in their business and it’s just not in the scope of practice anymore. Either scenario can look and feel a certain way to your team.
It can look and feel unrelatable to them. And even though you did all of that work to get where you are, some team members can feel a real disconnect as though you can’t understand her challenges because you’re at such a different place with your business.
Yes, this is where the “That’s not me and never my intention” comes up. Or “I don’t do that, do I? That’s not me?”
The easy antidote to this is to do the same activities that your team is doing. Enroll someone new to your team or your products. Get rejected. Get accepted. Talk about both.
Be relatable again. But the key is to make sure you talk openly about your experience. You’ll communicate with words and emotions that are timely, relevant, and raw to your team.
When was the last time you did this? You may be still very active with the activities that got you your success. But when was the last time you talked to your team about a real-life situation you’ve had regardless if you were accepted or rejected in that encounter?
But as you likely know, sharing a story of rejection gains significantly more respect and relatability. You can accomplish so much more as a leader and mentor when influencing your team.
If you can allow yourself to get vulnerable and be authentic, do it! It will be an incredible learning situation for all of you, for different reasons.
It goes right back to the John Covey quote “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” It’s always true.
Ok, for you leaders that have patterns of habit or areas of autopilot that are painfully obvious to you, here’s your invitation to make a plan! Ha.
You know what’s getting in your way. Really own it and break it down into the smallest pieces. This way, you’ll have a specific area of opportunity and growth to work on. I’ll use the example of becoming more organized. I hear it all the time!
And yet, there are so many different levels of the organization, and what you may feel “more organized” is for you. For example, when it comes to structure, I have leaders that truly run their business like a sales team, sharing numbers and goals, and inviting their team in on all of this.
For so much more on this, go to crazybigddreams.biz/61. You'll find the full transcript of this episode.
Hi leaders! Today we’re here for episode 60!
The Best Version Of You As A Direct Sales Leader, specifically in the area of your health.
Did you never ever think you would be in Direct Sales? And yet here you are. A savvy leader navigating your success journey.
But what is the best version of you as a direct sales leader? If you’re living life as your best self, what does that look like? What does that feel like for you?
You can find the full transcript of today’s episode at crazybigdreams.biz/60.
I love serving leaders in direct sales because it’s such a unique role. I chose you because I find the sacrifice and opportunity that you navigate remarkable. Opportunity is endless. The perks are huge for you and your family.
The uniqueness of your role can also come with challenges. Working from home, working from home with kids, open parameters on your time, buckling down to do the work when you wear so many hats, the ups and downs of compensation, and how you lead… just to name a few.
Being The Best Leader For Your Direct Sales Team
So what does the best version of you look and feel like as you navigate this unique success journey as a direct sales leader?
Let’s explore this today by looking at your health and fitness! Yes, your health and fitness. Now, some of you work directly in health and fitness for your direct sales business. I love it!
When Your Direct Sales Focus Is On Health And Fitness
It doesn’t mean that you don’t have your own personal challenges around health and fitness. I know! Sometimes when you work closely with this it can highlight different challenges.
Maybe you feel pressure at times to look, eat, dress, or live a certain way because of your business focus.
Maybe an injury or big life stressor has made it difficult for you to be at what you feel others expect for your health and fitness.
There are so many layers to this even when your business focus is on health and fitness.
I get it. My corporate background for over a decade was in the fitness industry. And my educational background also includes a degree in Exercise Science. And I still teach and practice yoga.
Health and fitness have always been a personal passion of mine and always will be.
So I’m coming to you with that breadth of experience and personal interest.
For some of you, your direct sales business has nothing at all to do with health and fitness. That’s a.o.k. Stick around.
The Benefits Of A Health And Fitness Focus For Your Direct Sales Success Journey
Either way, I would argue that living as your best self, regardless of your business focus, includes attention to your personal health and fitness.
There is a positive side effect that spills over into every area of your life when your health and fitness are closer to their best. Your relationships, your energy, your productivity, your sleep, more even moods, and fewer sick days, are just a few of the key areas that are positively influenced by your focus on health and fitness.
Let’s check in with how you feel about it today. We’ll rate health and fitness separately.
By health I’m referring to things like, are you avoiding the doctor? Have you put off your mammogram? Colonoscopy? Lab Work? Dental Check-up? Is your blood pressure, thyroid, cholesterol, and blood sugar in check? Do you know if they’re in check? How are you sleeping?

Hi leaders! It’s episode 59. Are you ready for this?
You’re likely pretty in touch with your intuition at this point in your success journey. At least, you can recognize when you’ve listened to it and when you haven’t. Right? We all have those experiences that truly stick out.
The ones where we tell ourselves “I knew I should have trusted my intuition!” It’s so much easier to look back and recognize this.
Being truly connected to your intuition and being able to recognize it and then act on it is like a muscle. We have to exercise it to trust it and get really good at it.
Today we’re talking about a different strategy. Your Heart Magnet. Although similar to your intuition it has a different key element to it that sets it apart.
You can find the full transcript of today's episode 59 at crazybigdreams.biz/59.
This key element is physiological. It’s something physical you feel in your body, or how your body responds that you notice.
Like a magnet, there are tasks, people, events, experiences, items in your visual space, and rooms in your home that you are either drawn to or repelled by. Like a magnet.
Some tasks with your Direct Sales business you are absolutely drawn to. You look forward to. You love.
There are also people in your business that you are drawn to like a magnet. There are events and experiences that just pull you in. Your office space also has some items that you love to look at that draw you in.
When you look at these items, spend time with these people, and experience the things that draw you in, there is a feeling that you have. You sense something different. Your body lets you know this.
You have to identify what that is for you. Some common examples include it may bring a smile to your face. Your shoulders relax down away from your ears. You feel light, energetic, and uplifted.
It’s really important to identify for yourself how your body responds. It could be something completely different than these examples but there is a physical indication.
The opposite, like a magnet, you’re also repelled by certain tasks, events, experiences, items in your visual space, a room in your home, and people. Most of us have that room or closet that we just need to turn around and shut the door!
You feel it inside you. Your body has a physical indicator that lets you know you’re repelled, turned off, and truly feeling an unpleasant feeling.
Maybe your shoulders draw up toward your ears. Maybe you feel tense. Where you do feel the tension? Is there tightness somewhere in your body? Does your heart race? Do you feel your blood pressure increase?
Again, these are just some examples of a physical response that your body is letting you know you’re repelled by something. It’s a feeling and your body will let you know accordingly.
Both what you’re drawn to and what repels you are equally strong in opposite ways.
Savvy Direct Sales Leaders don’t stop with their intuition. They go a level deeper with their heart magnet.
They truly know the physical signs that tell them they are drawn to something or someone and they know the physical signs that tell them they are repelled by something.
The importance of using this tool is that it’s like a muscle. When we don’t listen to these cues and pay attention, we lose our ability to make confident choices.
We don’t trust ourselves. We question how we’re spending our time. We question how we’re leading our team.
For the complete transcript on how to engage your heart magnet go to crazybigdreams.biz/59.
