This week we take on a Canadian unsolved mystery. Lindsay Buziak was an upcoming realtor in the Victoria, British Columbia area when she got the opportunity of a lifetime. It was this event that cut her life short. Join us this week as we tackle this mystery and share our opinions about who the killer might be. 

Cindy prepared French Canadian ragout boulettes over egg noodles. Oh, Canada! We paired that with some Crown Royal whiskey sours. As a sweet treat, she served up flapper pie. Canada, your food did not disappoint.

For dinner this week, Cindy played flight attendant. She made us some ironically delicious airplane food. Her lasagna was killer! Pun intended.  For dessert, she combined the quintessential airplane snacks of pretzels and chocolate chip cookies into bitesize cookie bars. She also served up a bag of dried fruit and nuts, which were promptly ignored. We shared mini liquor bottles (Captain Morgan and Titos) and mixed them with coke and cranberry juice just like American Airlines would.

These days finding love is at our fingertips with apps like Tinder, but who’s really on the other side of that profile? Molly McClaren was a beautiful, friendly girl with a bright future. She swiped right and did all the right things, but her dreamboat became nightmare fuel. 

Cindy took inspiration from this story out of England and served up bangers and mash with stout onion gravy for dinner. For dessert, she prepared a traditional Victoria sponge cake… or was it a torte? We washed it down with a classic Pimms cup, a refreshing British summer cocktail.

We’ve all been sucked into the Reddit rabbit hole at least once in our lives. Sometimes the stories are so outrageous, they couldn’t possibly be true. This time, however, the real story was stranger than fiction. This week, Dana covers the story of Jason and Brandi Worley. You won’t believe the outcome.

This week we share the story of Christopher Porco, a spoiled manchild with two very loving and well-meaning parents, whose only mistake was loving their child too much. The story features a series of emails, a yellow jeep, a foggy memory, and an ax. It doesn’t end well for anyone involved. 

For dinner this week, Cindy went with pork, the other white meat and so we had a delicious and tender pork loin in mushroom gravy with a side salad and mashed potatoes. For dessert, she ran with the setting of the story which happened to be New York, so we shared an Old Fashioned New York Style Crumb Cake. We paired the meal with a white wine blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay by Waltz Vineyard called Fusion.

Born into slavery, he was the first known person to hold the title of “Queen of Drag” and the first known American activist to lead a queer resistance group. This is a fun story we’re sure you’ll enjoy. 

For dinner, Cindy took inspiration from the south with Maryland crab cakes served with a white wine mushroom pasta and baked asparagus. For dessert, we shared slices of Smith Island Cake. This elaborate, multi-layered, cake was decadent. We washed it all down with Maryland’s signature drink, the Orange Crush, an Ocean City, Maryland favorite, and now ours too.

This week our story comes out of Mexico. It’s an unbelievable story made for the headlines.  A single mother who happens to be a professional Luchadora, or Mexican wrestler, who struck fear in the hearts of many of  Mexico’s abuelitas. We are covering none other than Juana Dayanara Barazza Samperio also known as La Mataviejitas or the little Old Lady Killer. 

For dinner, we had Mexican Sopes. While these are not your typical Americanized dishes such as tacos or burritos, sopes are just as flavorful and frankly way underappreciated. Cindy took care to knock us out with them. For dessert, she wowed us with a strawberry shortcake tres leches cake that left us weak in the knees. And what else would one wash it all down with, but the official beer of Mexico, Modelo Especial.

There are not many serial killers in Greece but Dana found one to talk about this week. He was coined the Ogre of Seikh Sou. Learn about his attacks, the investigation, and the subsequent sentence. Some believe he was an innocent man but we’ll let you be the judge.

Gabby Petito was a 22-year-old who went on a road trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie .  She went missing during the trip and he returned home without her and told no one. When her family reported her missing, he was suddenly tight lipped. Then just like that, he disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Her body was found in Wyoming. His body was found shortly after.  And while the world focused on them, other similar cases happened at the same time but got crickets in the media. We discussed those cases this week. 

Cindy prepared road trip food this week. She made some delicious Italian, turkey and roast beef wraps. When you think of road trips you think of cans and so we

drank 101 Cider House 3 Day Weekend cider. Finally, for dessert we had Wyoming Whopper Cookies, a favorite around those parts. Or so we hear.

Real life Bond girl, Maria Krystyna Janina Skarbek, also known as Christine Granville, was a Polish agent of the British Special Operations Executive during the Second World War. This bombshell spy became celebrated for her daring exploits in Nazi-occupied Poland and France. Her beauty was second to her bravery. She survived some of the most dangerous wartime situations only to meet her demise in quite the ironic way. Dana tells this fascinating story this week while Cindy takes us to Poland by serving up a delicious Polish potato dumpling recipe called Kopytka for dinner and some Polish lemon sandwich tea cookies.
