Joseph Gagliano is an entrepreneur, former investment advisor, and author of the book, “No Grey Areas”. At age of 24, he organized and financed the multi-million-dollar Arizona State basketball point shaving scandal in 1993–94, which led to several prison sentences. Those incarcerated included the ASU rising star Stevin "Hedake" Smith, Isaac Burton, Benny Silman, Joe Gagliano and several other Chicago bookmakers. It remains one of the largest known scandals in sports history until this day. Former ASU coach Bill Frieder, who resigned Sept. 10th after eight seasons -- in part because of the growing scandal -- said he never suspected players were shaving points. This story is absolutely polarizing and should be a cautionary tale even to this day to the aspect of how small bets on Sega video game can compound to being involved in one of the biggest sports scandals in history.

Today on Crime & Entertainment, we have a crazy story that includes serial killers and Ghislaine Maxwell. When William Steel's path transitioned from being a career locksmith into a cocaine-abusing jewel thief, his life quickly went off the rails. However, this was just the beginning of a roller coaster ride from hell. It would ultimately end in William being incarcerated for 18 years.  After serving nearly two decades in prison, author William Steel, is now being dubbed the "True Crime King." He is now a successful author on the rise due, in large measure, to his engaging, straightforward prose, and his colorful life experiences. These experiences include William colliding with many high-profile, notorious, and diabolical criminals which makes his story even more enthralling.

In his first gripping true crime memoir, "Sex and the Serial Killer, My Bizarre Times with Robert Durst," William Steel reveals the depths of the scion's depravity, and he demands justice for Durst's victims and their shattered families. In Steel’s latest series of true crime novels, GHISLAINE SENSATIONAL AND IMPURE, hidden truths are brought to light. The first of two books in the series quickly gets down to the raw, compelling account from William's personal insider experiences. More importantly, the reader will gain foundational knowledge helpful for understanding and empathizing with the immeasurable, ongoing suffering and anguish that remains with the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Readers will also learn the painful details of how William Steel also suffered at the hands of Ms. Maxwell. This is definitely a true account that will leave you stunned. We will have a part two to this podcast where we will dive deeper into the details of each book. Be sure to stay tuned, and please Like & Subscribe.

Today on Crime & Entertainment we talk to former deep cover FBI agent Giovanni Rocco, He went undercover as a hardened criminal for over 2.5 years, during that time he was undercover in the New Jersey Mafia in the DeCavalcante Crime Family. In the end he took down 10 members of the DeCavalcante Crime Family who were in fact the inspiration for HBO's hit Television series The Sopranos. Giovanni Rocco successfully worked his way into the DeCavalcante hierarchy, collecting enough evidence to deliver a massive blow to the Mafia organization. Rocco describes dramatic moments & provides insights into the dangerous world he inhabited, which keeps him in hiding to this very day. He eventually wrote a book to detail this wild ride that not many men would dare take, you can find a link to his book below in the show notes. So, buckle up and let's hear the infiltration of the "Real Sopranos"

Oscar Goodman was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. After completing high school, Goodman went on to receive his J.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. This eventually prompted a move to the Land of Milk & Honey - Las Vegas, Nevada. During his career as a defense attorney, he represented some of the top members accused of leading organized crime such as: Meyer Lansky, Nicky Scarfo, Herbert "Fat Herbie" Blitzstein, Phil Leonetti, former Stardust Casino boss Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal, and Jamiel "Jimmy" Chagra, a 1970s drug trafficker who was acquitted of ordering the murder of Federal Judge John H. Wood, Jr. One of his notorious clients was reputed Chicago mobster Anthony "Tony the Ant" Spilotro, who was known to have a short and violent temper. In the semi-factual 1995 movie Casino, the character of Nicky Santoro was based on Spilotro, and was portrayed by actor Joe Pesci. Goodman had a cameo appearance in the film as himself, where he was depicted defending “Ace Rothstein,” a character closely based on Lefty Rosenthal, and played by Robert De Niro. Eventually on June 8, 1999, Goodman was elected mayor of Las Vegas after he received 63.76% of the votes, while his opponent, then-Las Vegas City Councilman Arnie Adamsen, received 36.24% of the votes. In 2003, Goodman was re-elected for a second term, and defeated five opponents after he received 85.72% of the votes. On April 3, 2007, he was re-elected to a third and final term, with 83.69% of the votes when he once again defeated five opponents. Despite having been called Las Vegas’ “most popular mayor,” the city has term limit laws that restrict mayors to a maximum of three terms. In 2011, Carolyn Goodman, wife of Oscar, was elected to succeed her husband as mayor after she earned 60% of the votes. Please listen in as we take you on a journey from Mob Lawyer to Las Vegas mayor here on Crime & Entertainment.
