After six days of deliberating, the Lindsay Clancy jury remains deadlocked. After lunch on Thursday, the jury submitted a question, but the judge did not read it aloud. He did reiterate the legal definition of reasonable doubt, sending jurors back to deliberate. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington told the court one juror “refuses to listen to the law” and moved to remove that juror. Judge William Sullivan declined. Jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial after spending parts of more than seven days deliberating. The presiding judge formally declared a mistrial. He relayed the details of a note from the jury which stated, “With a heavy heart, we report we are unable to come to a unanimous decision. We will not be able to.” Soon after, at the request of Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, Sullivan gave the defense an hour to pursued an emergency stay from the Supreme Judicial Court. The emergency request was denied. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In Saratoga Springs, Utah, a 17-year-old girl returns home to find her mother, Jessica Lyman, and her 8-year-old brother, Eli Painter, shot in the head. While young Eli is pronounced dead at the scene, Jessica succumbs to her injuries three days later. A lengthy investigation leads to the arrest of Jessica's 16-year-old son, who currently faces murder charges in juvenile court in connection with the double shooting. Although the teen boy claimed he slept through the attack and subsequent emergency response, authorities uncovered a trail of disturbing evidence. Nancy Grace and her panel of experts break down what investigators found: hostile texts from the teen to his mother, gunshot residue on the clothes he wore that morning, and indoor home surveillance audio capturing three gunshots just minutes after a fierce argument between the mother and son.
