In April 2013, 15 year old Daniel Marsh could no longer contain his homicidal urges and prowled his neighbourhood, looking for a victim. He broke into a house where elderly couple Claudia Maupin and Oliver Northup were sound asleep in bed. Marsh unleashed a visceral attack with a hunting knife, murdering the couple in cold blood. Marsh had executed the perfect crime, leaving no trace of him ever being in the home, leaving police with no clues about who could have committed such a gruesome crime. But what led Daniel Marsh to carry out this unspeakable attack?

The true horror of Amityville, Long Island did not begin with a supposed supernatural event. In November 1974, 23 year old Ronald DeFeo Jnr. entered a local bar claiming his family had been shot. Police were called to the DeFeo family residence on Ocean Avenue, where they confirmed that all 6 family members had been shot in their beds, leaving Ronald DeFeo Jnr. the sole surviving member. The investigation into what happened began with Ronald Jnr. being questioned, who claimed it was a mob hit, but changed his story multiple times, casting doubt on his credibility, and leaving him as the only suspect.

Michael Swango showed promise at the start of his medical career. He demonstrated genius levels of intellect and went to multiple high profile medical schools in Illinois and New York. When working on one internship, Swango developed a fascination with death, wanting a front row seat to any patient living their last moments. This unhealthy obsession soon developed into a fantasy that he would turn into reality.
