On this episode, GC answers a question regarding the Alston case and how it might affect IU athletics. Then Grace Ybarra from Inside The Hall joins to talk about some IU basketball updates, and Griffin Gonzalez of The Hoosier Network checks in to discuss Tom Allen's recruiting pitch and the impact that a full Memorial Stadium might have on IU football.

A potentially landmark case for college athletics was ruled on by the Supreme Court on Monday, one that might have some far-reaching implications for the sport and for the concept of amateurism. Galen is joined by the Indy Star's Zach Osterman, who has written about issues relating to both the Alston vs NCAA case and NIL rights more generally, and the two of us discuss the nature of the case, the implications of the ruling, and what it means in the bigger scheme of things.

Scott went to the race; Galen had to watch it on TV. The guys spend an hour discussing one of their favorite sporting events of the year, what the crowds were like, how the renovations looked, how the race stacked up competitively, and what (if anything) it might mean for the future of the Indy 500.

Joining us on this special edition of CrimsonCast are two men who cover IU men's soccer closely - Evan Gerike of the Indiana Daily Student and Jared Kelly of The Hoosier Network and Peegs.com. I talk with both of them about the unusual season that IU has faced, the players that have made this team as good as it is, and what they'll be going up against when they match up against Seton Hall on Monday, as IU men's soccer attempts to book a repeat trip to the College Cup.

We apologize for the long delay between podcasts. Our way of apologizing is by nearly breaking the 100 minute barrier on this episode. Scott and Galen do a rare in-person show, and we spent the first half of the show talking about IU football's last month, discussing the victories on the recruiting trail, and answering your questions about the program's momentum.

We then turn to men's soccer and give a preview of the Hoosiers' chances in the NCAA tournament, before finally pivoting to men's basketball and talking at length about a variety of subjects, including the impact of Dane Fife's arrival, Logan Duncomb's potential impact, the recruitment of Kopp and Bates, the culture shift going on in terms of IU recruiting targets, and more.

We discuss Dane Fife's hiring and introductory press conference, the departure of Joey Brunk, some of the individual player development opportunities and obstacles that this IU team faces, and whether Fife is actually a coach-in-waiting or not at this point.

Scott is finally back from vacation so we got a chance to podcast about the great past week that IU basketball and Mike Woodson experienced. We take a bunch of questions about how next year's roster looks, who might play where, who might end up filling the final assistant coaching slot, and how Woodson's hire and the subsequent couple of weeks of sunshine have changed the narrative about an "IU guy" at the helm.
