COVID-19 surges put many health-care systems under significant strain. The experience in New York City taught us that existing guidelines regarding crisis standards of care (CSC) are difficult to operationalize and might not be nimble enough, and many frontline decisions regarding resource allocation are made subjectively. This episode describes crisis CSC, identifies current vulnerabilities, and provides ideas on how to approach CSC in the setting of an ongoing pandemic. (Originally recorded July 23, 2020)
Moderator: Vikramjit Mukherjee, MD, MBBS
Panelists: Asha Devereaux, MD, MPH, FCCP; Jeffrey Dichter, MD, FCCP; Laura Evans, MD; Ryan Maves, MD, FCCP; and Amit Uppal, MD
