In 2004, Van Helsing was supposed to kick off a giant Universal Monsters franchise, but critics balked, audiences stayed away, and thats why we got The Wolfman (which also failed to kick off a Universal Monsters franchise), Dracula Untold (ditto) and The Mummy (same).

But it can be done: 70 years earlier, Universal made a monster mash movie that actually worked! Lets find out how Van Helsing stacks up against the classic horror movie House of Frankenstein!
