Those interested in homeschooling and film or acting will be amazed to learn about Cross Purposes Productions. This film company was founded by a homeschooling dad, David, who works closely with a homeschool graduate, Joseph. Join Felice Gerwitz as she interviews David Alford and Joseph Stam.
Long ago, I was involved in homeschool productions. We purchased plays only to learn that there were parts for about ten kids at the most, and all the rest were “extras.” That wouldn’t do, and the writer in me began to hack away at the play, inserting my original characters into the plot. Everyone had a great time, and our plays typically included around forty homeschool school-aged children at a time. I did this with a friend who was involved in theatre as an adult.
My interest was piqued when I learned about Cross Purposes Productions and its founder, David Alford. I was especially intrigued when I learned that he was a homeschool dad and had a heart for theatre for homeschool students and beyond. In this podcast, we cover a range of topics, including how David got started and his passion for drama, acting, and productions. We will learn about Joseph Stam, who was homeschooled and involved in the drama company that David headed. What is most surprising is that you can find Cross Purposes Productions films on many streaming apps, including one of my favorites, PureFlix.
