This week we explore Luke 8 where we're confronted with not only being hearers of God's word, but also believers of God's word. If God is who He's said He is, and does all he's said He'll do, our faith should be active, resilient, and contagious.

We need to be reminded often of the kind of friend Jesus is to us, because it's easy to forget that it is the salvation of Jesus that produces holiness and obedience. Sometimes, we look for holiness in people before we’re concerned at all with their salvation. We’re totally content with people looking the part. However, we need to be willing and wanting to enter the messiness that is life with people. Which may mean we need to be vulnerable with the messiness of our own lives in order to walk with the people. As we look at Luke 7:1-50, we’ll see how Jesus is a good friend to foes.

Jesus gives us everything we need for a lifesaving, life-giving fiery faith of hope and forgiveness. In other words, we do not have blind faith, because we’ve seen God’s Word and we’ve seen God’s work. Instead, we can have a fiery faith because we’ve seen God’s Word and we’ve seen God’s work. In Luke 5:33-6:11, the Pharisees live to serve the Law, and they fail to see how the Law was created to serve them. The result of Jesus’s coming is a new path towards righteousness. It’s not found in legalistic worship, devotion, or self-exalting righteousness – this is upside down. Righteousness is always only found in Jesus – that is what right-side up devotion to the Lord looks like.

Jesus is the Holy Son of God who was set apart to build the Kingdom of Heaven by drawing people, cleansing people, forgiving people, and transforming people. This morning, Pastor Nolan continues in the Gospel of Luke, preaching through Luke 5:1-32.

In Luke 4, God gives us everything we need to taste and see that Jesus Christ is the perfect priest, prophet and King. Christ has come to carry your burdens and bear your sin upon Himself.

In Week 7 of our series through the Gospel of Luke, we're looking at Luke 3:1-38, where we'll see the ministry of John the baptizer, a prophetic messenger who has been appointed to prepare the way for the Lord. He's preaches boldly and simply the message of Jesus, point us all to Jesus. In many ways, this is what we've been called to do to prepare the way for Jesus' second coming.

This morning we'll continue in our series through the book of Luke, and in Luke 2:22-52 we'll see how the Father sends His one and only Son to earth, in a position, with a purpose, fueled by passion to Glorify the Father and bring good news to all. Jesus comes with a position, purpose, and passion.

On this Christmas Eve, Pastor Nolan preaches through Luke 2:1-21, and we'll see that our only hope for peace with God is through Jesus Christ.

Continuing in the book of Luke, this morning we'll look at Luke 1:57-80 and we'll see the heart of the Father towards His people is mercy, which leads to our joy, hope, salvation and peace.
