Life is messy because people are messy. Last week we learned what mutual submission really means, and how that plays out in our messy marriages. Continuing on with the same theme, this week we'll look at messy relationships: parents and children, and employees and employers. Children and parents, and employees and employers fulfill unique roles that God designed to work together in harmony, united in Christ. But it's easier said than done. How do we get there? This week’s study in Ephesians 6 gives us the practical steps. See you at 9 or 11:15am!
As we move into our second series in the book of the Leviticus called "Cleansing," the focus shifts from the sacrifices to be offered to ritual cleansing. In order to properly worship the Lord, someone who has been defiled must first be properly cleansed before they are reintegrated into the worship community. Leviticus 8 focuses on the consecration of Aaron and his sons, the priests. Before the sacrifices could be offered, even the priests needed to be prepared and cleansed.
If we've learned anything through our study of the book of Ephesians, it's that "Life Is Messy" because people are messy. And because we are, this week we'll take a look at marriages. They can be a total mess.Because Jesus is real, He leads and empowers us through the messiness of close relationships, even marriage. God created marriage for so much more than simply human happiness...He has a beautiful plan for humanity through the blessing of marriage. This Sunday's message from Ephesians will be a huge blessing to everyone who hears it. So grab friends and family and join us at 9 or 11:15am on Sunday at Crossroads!
What is really going on when we talk about being "clean" before a Holy and Righteous God? Does the state of our hands and whether we scrubbed behind our ears really make a difference in terms of how He views us and what He expects us to do? As we move from the section on sacrificial offerings in the Book of Leviticus to the section on sacrificial cleansing, we'll take a deeper look at what is really going on in God's eyes and ours when we seek to go clean into the Presence of God.
Life is messy, but God calls each of us to simply respond to Jesus. Nothing more, nothing less. How do we do that? In Ephesians 5, God gives us the tools to walk through the mess of life. This Sunday, bring friends and family and join us as we learn about how to navigate "The Messy Walk." It will change your life!
As we close out our Sacrifice series, we will now see a recap of the five sacrifices. This time looking at these sacrifices the focus is on the work of the priests. There were specific rules for how the priests were to handle each sacrifice. There are some very interesting insights in these chapters.
Everyone has a style. A style is a way of doing things that is uniquely your own. Whether we are cognizant or not, we present ourselves in certain ways. As people who are simply responding to Jesus, there is a certain style that God wants us to have. You can call that the Jesus style. Even though life is messy, we are to have style in the mess. As we continue our series through the book of Ephesians, Pastor Daniel is continuing to show us that although life is messy, Jesus is real. When the Spirit is alive and at work in the lives of God’s children, we put off the old life and put on the new life in Jesus. This message will be an amazing message for you to bring your seeking friends, coworkers and neighbors.
The trespass offering is the final of the five offerings described in the first section of the book of Leviticus. This offering system was designed to put to right many of the issues that transpired between God and his people. The trespass offering is no different. God desires an intimate relationship with his people. The trespass offering reminded people of their ability to rebel and to be set back into relationship with God by his grace.
There is no doubt that life is messy. Yet Jesus is still giving gifts to transform the people of God. Although circumstances seem out of control, God is still working in and through His people to bring about glorious outcomes. As we move into the second half of the book of Ephesians, we now see the practical outworking of God’s grace in the church. Although life is messy, Jesus is real. Jesus wants His people unified, serving and moving towards maturity.
