  • Crusaders Pregame with Dawson Petryshen: Featuring Levi Fesyk

On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, host Dawson Petryshen recaps the last couple wins the Cru have been stringing together, and looks ahead to the second matchup in seven days against the Lloydminster Bobcats.

A back and forth affair on Saturday, as the Grande Prairie Storm came to town. Goals were traded back and forth through the first, totaling two a side, including a powerplay goal from Logan Hauer. Cam Vassos almost had the lone marker of the second, but Carter Chorney had a response with 45 seconds to play in the frame. Not to go down quietly, Grande Prairie took the lead yet again but Brett Ursulak struck back halfway through the 3rd to tie things up yet again. Regulation solved nothing, and 38 seconds into overtime, Tyler Bates sent the Cru over the Storm, by a 5-4 decision.

Dawson also had a chance to speak with forward Levi Fesyk before tonight’s matchup on how he’s secured more consistent lineup spots, and how the team has performed as of late.

  • Crusaders Pregame with Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen: Featuring Zac Maxwell

On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen recap the huge win over the Drumheller Dragons, and look to see how the Cru can keep things rolling against the Lloydminster Bobcats.

After a tough loss in Bonnyville that saw Ashton McNelly get suspended and Austin Cook leave the game with an apparent injury, things were not looking up for Sherwood Park. However, that didn’t stop them as they hosted Drumheller and exploded out of the gate. Bode Hagan, Zac Maxwell, and Mitchell Joss all converted for three goals in the first 20 minutes, and Jaron Desnoyers got himself a couple in the second to chase Dragons goaltender Eric Ward. While there were no goals in the second, the Crusaders held on and got Gus Bylin his first AJLH shutout, who made 30 saves on the evening.

Dawson had a chance to speak with Zac Maxwell ahead of tonight’s matchup, on his three point night and how the team needs to respond to the win.

  • Crusaders Pregame with Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen: Featuring Carmelo Crandell

On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen recap the spirited loss to the Bonnyville Pontiacs and preview the Crusaders’ return home against the Drumheller Dragons.

Perhaps a bit of relief for Sherwood Park to get away from the Randy Rosen Rink for a game, as they had lost three straight games to close out their home stand. Mitchell Joss opened the scoring in Bonnyville and Carmelo Crandell potted his first in 10 appearances, but quick responses from the Pontiacs sent the teams into the first intermission tied. After that, Pontiacs goaltender Bodee Weiss shut the door, and Bonnyville walked away with a 5-2 victory, handing the Cru their fourth straight loss.

Dawson had a chance to speak with the goal scorer Crandell before tonight’s matchup on how his game has developed this season, and what the team needs to do to break the slump.

  • Crusaders Pregame with Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen: Featuring Gus Bylin and Austin Cook

On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen discuss the Cru’s goal scoring struggles as of late, and how they plan to come back against the Bonnyville Pontiacs.

With one goal in their last two games, Sherwood Park hosted the Spruce Grove Saints to close out their five game home stand. While the first period was close, Luigi Benincasa scored the lone goal of the frame to put the Saints ahead. The Crusaders were outshot 13-1 in the second period, but Gus Bylin stood tall and kept it a one goal lead for Spruce Grove. Carter Chorney put in a powerplay marker to tie the game, but three unanswered goal from the Saints put the matchup out of reach and Sherwood Park went home with a 4-1 decision.

Dawson had a chance to speak with Bylin before tonight’s matchup on his role with the team and how they’ve played as of late, as well as Austin Cook on the team’s mentality and goals heading into Bonnyville.

Ryder Matter opened the scoring, but Ashton McNelly got Sherwood Park back into things with a goal on the powerplay. After that, it was all in favor of the Mob. Taige Harding let one rip on the powerplay, and three more unanswered to close out the game, 5-1 in favor of Fort McMurray.

Sherwood Park got unanswered goals from six different players, and Gus Bylin made 25 of 26 saves en route to a 6-1 victory. Sunday was a touch closer, but three goals from Mitchell Joss and another solid goaltending performance from Marek Pocherewny gave the Crusaders a 5-2 win over the Olds Grizzlys.

On this episode of Crusaders Pregame, hosts Zach Marks and Dawson Petryshen recap the shootout loss in Whitecourt, and preview the weekend back to back against the Okotoks Oilers and Olds Grizzlys.

Following a late win against the Grande Prairie Storm, the Crusaders headed into Whitecourt for a midweek matchup against the Wolverines. Austin Cook opened the scoring just a couple minutes in but headed into the first intermission tied. Mitchell Joss got his fourth of the season in between two Wolverines goals, and Sherwood Park suffered a two-goal deficit early in the third thanks to Jaxon Dube’s first of the year. Not to be outdone, Cale Ashcroft ripped home a powerplay marker and Evan Arnold tied the game with just over a minute to go. Unfortunately, overtime solved nothing and the Cru were scoreless in the shootout, taking home just one point.

Carter Chorney opened the scoring on the powerplay with a picture-perfect shot but was returned by the Storm minutes later. Bruce MacGregor had the lone goal of the second, again on the man advantage. Goals went back and forth in the final frame, but Logan Hauer closed things out with 37 seconds left to play and sent the home crowd home happy with a 4-3 win.
