Sometimes the most dangerous enemy of the X-Men (or at least the Summers family now on multiple occasions) is the weather. While it is snowing at the Institute, Alex and Scott have the worst surf trip possible. It's definitely a different kind of episode.

Despite being tricked by a few titles last season, this one delivers what we expect as Hank McCoy gets his formal introduction to the X-Men. While inspired by aspects of the character from the comics, we see a less than helpful Xavier leading Hank to take matters into his own hands and putting students at risk.
Cyclops is Waiting for Me is our weekly podcast series where we are going back and watching EVERY-SINGLE-X-MEN-ANIMATED-EPISODE we can find. Our first series started with the original 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series building up to the release of X-Men 97’, coming to Disney Plus later this year. But since it’s not here yet, we needed to find some other shows to cover.

Fun and Games shows what happens at the Institute when the three adults are gone and a bunch of young mutants are left to their own devices. With Xavier off to see what's wrong with the prison holding his brother the Juggernaut, the students throw a bash that definitely violates the rules and puts everyone there at risk.

Emotions running high and bodies changing unexpectedly as a teenager. But it isn't JUST hormones. Its X-Genes kicking into high gear and Jean's telepathy isn't doing her any favors as she hears everything from everyone, without even trying. We also get to see just where she, Duncan and Scott stand before her powers are fully out of her control.

We are thrilled to have Steven E Gordon, character designer for X-Men: Evolution and Director of this very episode join us to for Bada-Bing Bada-Boom which is the first episode to dive into one of the Xavier Institute’s new recruits, Boom-Boom. It just so happens Boom-Boom is one of JC’s favorite characters in recent years too!
Steven graciously shared a ton of time with us and provided some amazing insights for X-Men: Evolution (which we don’t want to spoil in this caption).
A quick heads up, there was a little bit of an issue with audio on this one which Rod spent hours trying to work through. Unfortunately, this version is the best we were able to get from it even when using tons of different tools to help us attempt to fix it.

In an episode that could never work today in an age of IG Live and Facetime, Season 2 kicks off by asking "What can the X-Men do if someone decides to open up Pandora's Box and reveal mutants to the world?" Kicking off with the introduction of a bunch of new students, we also see what happens to the Brotherhood without any sort of leader guiding them. With the leash off, Lance and crew decide to let the cat out of the bag and potentially bring a lot of grief to Scott, Kitty and the rest of the X-Men.
And make sure to tune in next week for a guest appearance from Steven E. Gordon, character designer and director of multiple episodes from the first two seasons of X-Men: Evolution!

As Rod would like JC to say, things really heat up here as Magneto's full plan is revealed and the mutants who got left behind need to figure out where everyone is and save the day. We also see the ill effects of performance enhancing procedures. Definitely defining their own path compared to existing stories, we wrap up Season 1 of X-Men: Evolution with a bang.

The 2 Part Season 1 Finale of X-Men: Evolution kicks off with some huge reveals such as Magneto's plan and Scott Summers's brother (who would have known?) in a fan favorite locale. We also get to dive deeper into this continuity's relationship between Charles and Magnus and how different it is from what we had in X-Men: TAS.

As if it was preordained, JC and Rod recently mentioned that we didn't know enough about Wolverine's past and we got our wish. Within the first season, we get our first glimpse of the Weapon X project and some answers around the history between Logan and Sabretooth. This version gives us some time with the Elf and Half Pint and is actually shared from an outsider's perspective as Kitty is keeping her family up to date via a very lengthy day long written email.

X-Men: Evolution continues the tradition of "secret babies" and horrifying family dynamics as Rogue's interactions with Mystique a few episodes ago pay off big with a look into Nightcrawler's past. Rod & JC talk about the similarities and differences between the comics, X-Men 92' and this series tackling this fan favorite topic.
