    I wouldn't go that far

I don’t completely agree with such a strong or extreme statement.

    Examples

Imagine you and a friend have just eaten at a new restaurant.

You both agree that the food was good, but your friend gets a little carried away and says:

“That was the best meal I’ve ever had!”

    You laugh and reply:

“I wouldn’t go that far, but it was definitely good.”

    Speak Before You’re Ready

    Many English learners are waiting.

    Waiting for better grammar.

    More vocabulary.

    Better pronunciation.

    More confidence.

    And then, they tell themselves:

“When my English is good enough, I’ll start speaking.”

But actually speaking is not the reward you get after learning English. Speaking is part of how you learn English.

  • Your accent is not your enemy

Why do so many learners apologize for their accent? Why do they see it as something they need to hide? Your accent simply tells the story of where you come from. It tells people that you speak more than one language. That you’ve had the courage to learn something difficult.

    It grew on me

You didn’t like something very much at first, but gradually you began to appreciate or enjoy it.

    Example:

Imagine you’ve just moved to a new city.

During the first few weeks, everything feels unfamiliar.

You miss your old neighborhood, your friends, and your routine.

But after a few months, you discover your favorite café, make new friends, and begin to feel at home.

    Looking back, you might say:

“At first, I wasn’t sure about this city, but it really grew on me.”

    Connect the dots

To understand how different pieces of information or different events are connected.

    Example:

Imagine you’re watching a detective movie.

At first, the clues don’t seem to make any sense.

    A lost key.

    A phone call.

    A photograph.

But near the end of the movie, the detective suddenly understands how everything fits together.

    You could say:

    “She finally connected the dots.”

    It's the little things

The small, ordinary moments in life often bring the greatest happiness.

    Examples:

1-  Imagine someone asks why you enjoyed your vacation so much.

    It wasn’t the hotel.

    It wasn’t the expensive restaurants.

You simply loved drinking coffee every morning while watching the sunrise.

    You smile and say:

    “Honestly, it’s the little things.”

    It was worth a shot

It was worth trying, even if success wasn’t guaranteed.

    Examples:

Imagine your friend encourages you to apply for a scholarship.

You don’t think you’ll get it, but you submit your application anyway.

A few weeks later, whether you get it or not, you might say:

“I’m glad I applied. It was worth a shot.”

    You can't go wrong with...

It’s a safe, reliable, or excellent choice.

In other words, it’s something that’s very unlikely to disappoint.

    Examples:

1- Imagine your friend is invited to a job interview and isn’t sure what to wear.

    They ask you for advice.

    You might say:

“You can’t go wrong with a simple navy suit or a white shirt.”

2- Imagine a tourist asks you where they should eat in your city.

You think for a moment and say:

“You can’t go wrong with the local seafood.”

You’re telling them it’s a safe and popular choice.

    Too Many Shoulds

There is a small word that quietly makes many people miserable. That word is: should.

I should be further ahead by now. I should earn more. I should speak better English. I should have figured this out already. I should be happier.

    Being busy vs. busyness

The brain doesn't always distinguish between solving a problem and rehearsing a problem.

    Between planning and worrying.

    Between thinking and carrying.
