Democratic Senate Approves Pork Spending Bill

WASHINGTON””Another round of stimulus checks is almost certain to happen now that the Senate has approved President Biden’s coronavirus relief legislation.

I really do appreciate Rand Paul’s questioning, but as I noted on the Sunday Special this last week, the one thing that none of the Republican questioners did (that I’m aware of) was to deny the whole premise ”“ why are we questioning a man in a dress about health care at all? Why are we even asking a man in a dress about standards of health care? Republicans needed to come out swinging, but instead they actually weakened their own arguments by not denying the premise ”“ that a man in a dress could even give reasonable answers. WSJ: Senate Democrats advanced a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package Thursday after making a series of adjustments related to student loans, infrastructure and other matters, with approval in the chamber expected within days.

Republicans can’t block Democrats from passing the legislation, but they are planning to drag out the timeline. Sen. Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) forced Senate staff to read the 628-page bill aloud, which is expected to take several hours. After the reading, the Senate will conduct hours of debate and a blitz of amendment votes known as “vote-a-rama.”

All 50 Democrats stuck together on the procedural vote, confirming that the party has coalesced around the broad relief package, while all 50 Republicans were opposed. Vice President Kamala Harris broke the tie in Democrats’ favor.

The legislation would send a $1,400 direct check to many Americans, provide $350 billion to state and local governments, fund vaccine distribution, and expand the child tax credit, among other measures.

Senate Democrats plan to give $1,400 checks to fewer people under a deal struck with President Joe Biden, according to two sources familiar with it.

Every American who filed individually and makes up to $75,000 would still get the full amount before it begins to reduce at incomes above that. But rather than zero out at $100,000 earnings, as the last Covid-19 relief bill does, the Senate bill would cut off payments at $80,000, the sources said.

For couples filing jointly, incomes up to $150,000 would still get the full amount. But rather than zero out at $200,000, the Senate bill would cut off payments at $160,000 in earnings.

For taxpayers filing as heads of households, the new plan would make the full $1,400 available for those earning under $112,500, with the payment zeroing out at $120,000.

The House bill got no Republican votes and no Republican senators are on board with it, as party leaders decry the package as a "liberal wish list."

Border Crossers Testing Positive for COVID

NBC: BROWNSVILLE, Texas ”” Miriam Izaguirre, a 35-year-old asylum-seeker from Honduras, crossed the Rio Grande at dawn Monday with her young son and turned herself in to the authorities.

A few hours later she was released, and the first thing she did was take a rapid test for Covid-19 at the Brownsville bus station. They told her her test came out positive.

"Right now we were tested for Covid and they separated about eight of us because we were positive," she told Noticias Telemundo Investiga. "We are waiting right now." She was waiting to catch a bus to Houston.

Other migrant families who also said they had tested positive were waiting to go to other destinations: North Carolina, Maryland and New Jersey.

The city of Brownsville administers these rapid tests at the bus station, after migrant families are released by the Border Patrol. A spokesperson for Brownsville confirmed that, since they began doing these tests Jan. 25, 108 migrants have tested positive for Covid-19, which is 6.3 percent of those who took the test.

In response to Noticias Telemundo Investiga, a spokesperson for the city said in an email that Brownsville does not have the authority to retain these migrants who plan to travel to dozens of cities throughout the country. The

Andrew Cuomo Fights for the MeToo cause only to be MeToo’d.

Now bring in MeToo. Apparently there are three ladies who have publicly made statements that Gov. Cuomo has in one form or another sexually assaulted them. In fact enough pressure has been placed on Cuomo to even issue some sort of an apology:

"At work sometimes I think I am being playful and make jokes that I think are funny. I do, on occasion, tease people in what I think is a good natured way. I do it in public and in private. You have seen me do it at briefings hundreds of times," Cuomo said in his statement. "I have teased people about their personal lives, their relationships, about getting married or not getting married. I mean no offense and only attempt to add some levity and banter to what is a very serious business.

"I acknowledge some of the things I have said have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation. To the extent anyone felt that way, I am truly sorry about that," he said.

But Bill “hotdog” DeBlasio is not going to let him off the hook that fast:

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said that with his statement, Cuomo looked as if he was "letting himself off the hook."

"That’s not an apology," de Blasio said in a news conference Monday, adding that Cuomo "seemed to be saying he was just kidding around."

"Sexual harassment is not funny," he said.

So, here is the deal. As Christians we believe in witnesses, evidence, fair trials, and so forth, and which all needs to happen. But I actually think this is just a distraction from Gov. Cuomo as he has been by far the most deadliest Governor in the nation. By deadly, I mean he sent hospital patients who had COVID back into the nursing homes, by deadly- I mean he would not allow patients in nursing homes to get access to that naval portable hospital boats (that were empty BTW, by deadly- I mean he covered up the amount of COVID deaths in nursing homes by underreporting to upwards of 50%.

But this is really a distraction. The real issue is NY nursing home deaths.

If New York was a country, they would rank 15th behind South Africa for most deaths world wide, coming in at 50,077 deaths.

The House Voted to Pass the [Discrimination] Equality Act Thursday

The legislation was passed by the House in 2019 but blocked in the Republican-led Senate. This time, Democrats control the White House, House and Senate. President Biden has signaled his support for the measure, but it still faces an uphill fight in the Senate, where it would need 60 votes to break a legislative filibuster.

“The Civil Rights Act is a sacred pillar of freedom in our country. It is not amended lightly,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a House floor speech Thursday afternoon. She thanked members of the Congressional Black Caucus who “gave their imprimatur to the opening of the Civil Rights Act to end discrimination against LGBTQ Americans.” 

The fact that these black folks just agreed to let sexual perverts exploit the same status as their fathers and grandfathers is a crying shame. 

The House voted 224 to 206 for the measure, with three Republicans joining all Democrats to vote yes.

John Stonestreet wrote at the Christian Post: “To be clear, you should only care about the Equality Act if you are a Christian, or a person of faith, or a woman, or own a business, or run a nonprofit, or go to school, or teach at a school, or are a medical or mental-health professional, or (especially) are a female athlete, or under the age of 18, or ever use a public restroom. That’s not an exaggeration. In fact, here is the exact wording from the Equality Act:

“An individual shall not be denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room and a dressing room, that is in accordance with the individual’s gender identity.”

This applies to…

“any establishment that provides a good, service, or program, including a store, shopping center, online retailer or service provider, salon, bank, gas station, food bank, service or care center, shelter, travel agency or funeral parlor, or establishment that provides health care, accounting or legal services,” along with any organization that receives any federal funding.

In other words, the so-called Equality Act is actually a Discrimination Act. It would give LGBT Activists leverage to discriminate against and harass and cancel traditional Christians and other Americans who don’t want dudes in their daughter’s locker room or public restroom. 

A number of religious denominations are therefore lobbying against the measure, saying its lack of religious exemptions creates one of the most sweeping challenges to religious liberty in decades.

More Young People Say They are Sexually Confused

One in six adults in Generation Z identifies as [sexually confused], according to survey data released early Wednesday from Gallup, providing some of the most detailed and up-to-date estimates yet on the size and makeup of the nation’s LGBT population.

Gallup’s latest survey data, based on more than 15,000 interviews conducted throughout 2020 with Americans age 18 and older, found that 5.6 percent of U.S. adults identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, up from 4.5 percent in Gallup’s findings based on 2017 data. 

… A growing percentage of the U.S. population identifies as LGBT, Gallup’s researchers said. What’s less clear is why. Is it because of a real shift in sexual orientation and gender identity? Or is it because of a greater willingness among young people to identify as LGBT?

A New California Bill Requires Sexual Confusion in Department Stores

Assembly members Evan Low and Cristina Garcia — both Democrats — introduced legislation last week to force retailers to offer their toys, clothing, and other kid-oriented items in a “gender-neutral” fashion, Politico reported.

Under the bill, retailers would still be allowed to sell the products they currently carry. However, they would be required to lump all the products together instead of separating them based on sex. California-based stores that sell products online would likewise be required to have pages on their websites offering the products in a collective “kids,” “unisex,” or “gender neutral” format.

Low, who serves as chair of the Legislative LGBT Caucus, told Politico he introduced the bill because he wants to make the shopping experience “more inclusive” for children. The idea, he said, came from a staffer whose young daughter asked why certain products she wanted were marketed for boys.

“This is an issue of children being able to express themselves without bias,” he explained.

“Infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci advised Americans who have received the coronavirus vaccine to still be very wary about dining out or going to the movies. This is true even if the individual has received both injections of the vaccine, he said.

"I still do not do dining indoors and I still do takeout," Fauci, who has been vaccinated, said. "I want to continue to support the restaurants in my neighborhood that I would normally go to."

The statement came at a briefing one day after Fauci announced Sunday morning that he believes Americans will possibly need to wear facemasks into 2022 on a protracted course to "normality."

"When it goes way down, and the overwhelming majority of the people in the population are vaccinated, then I would feel comfortable in saying you know we need to pull back on the masks, we don't need to have masks," Fauci counseled.

Clinical Significance

 

COVID-19 hospitalizations and death can be reduced with outpatient treatment.

 

Principles of COVID-19 outpatient care include: 1) reduction of reinoculation, 2) combination antiviral therapy, 3) immunomodulation, 4) antiplatelet/antithrombotic therapy 5) administration of oxygen, monitoring, and telemedicine.

 

Future randomized trials will undoubtedly refine and clarify ambulatory treatment, however we emphasize the immediate need for management guidance in the current crisis of widespread hospital resource consumption, morbidity, and mortality.

The 3rd paragraph is says this: 

“On May 14, 2020, after about 1 million cases and 90,000 deaths in the United States had already occurred, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced it was launching an outpatient trial of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and azithromycin in the treatment of COVID-19.6 A month later, the agency announced it was closing the trial because of the lack of enrollment with only 20 of 2000 patients recruited.7 No safety concerns were associated with the trial. This effort serves as the best current working example of the lack of feasibility of outpatient trials for COVID-19.”

But that is not really how the HCQ controversy shook out. You had governors, including ours in Idaho, literally banning HCQ from being used for treatment.
