Two Colorado Churches Win in Federal Court

Two Colorado churches will no longer be required to wear masks or limit their numbers as required by the governor of Colorado’s COVID-19 mandates. The pastors of two Colorado churches — Bob Enyart of Denver Bible Church in Wheat Ridge and Joey Rhoads of Community Baptist Church in Brighton – filed the lawsuit in August.

“The lawsuit,” said Special Counsel Rebecca Messall, one of the Thomas More Society attorneys representing the Colorado pastors, “calls both the federal government and Colorado leaders into account for their violations of the right to free exercise of religion, among other abuses of power, primarily resulting from Gov. Jared Polis’ COVID-19 related Executive Orders.”

A spokesperson from the governor’s office on Thursday indicated the state’s Attorney General filed an emergency motion for an injunction on Monday to keep the orders in place and the state plans to appeal the federal judge’s decision.

In his ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Daniel D. Domenico stated, “…the Constitution does not allow the State to tell a congregation how large it can be when comparable secular gatherings are not so limited, or to tell a congregation that its reason for wishing to remove facial coverings is less important than a restaurant’s or spa’s.”

“It’s like ‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’,” Enyart told CBS4. “If it was a true emergency, people would not be inclined to ignore government orders because of government’s overreach. There’s so much evidence coming out that the lockdown is hurting people.”

“We hope other churches will follow along.”

In their own words, the churches’ attorneys argued that “Colorado imposes capacity limits on houses of worship that are more severe than those that apply to other so-called critical businesses whose settings pose a similar risk of COVID-19 transmission. The state also allows a variety of exceptions to its facial-covering requirement where it recognizes that removing a mask is necessary to carry out a particular activity.”

The Pope Embraces Two Kingdom Theology

In a documentary that premiered Wednesday in Rome, Pope Francis called for the passage of civil union laws for same-sex couples, departing from the position of the Vatican’s doctrinal office and the pope’s predecessors on the issue.

“Homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family. They’re children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out, or be made miserable because of it,” Pope Francis said in a documentary film, Francesco, released on Octobe 21st in Europe, set to premiere on Sunday in North America. 

“What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered,” the pope said. “I stood up for that.”

“Seattle Police officers who are leaving the department gave scathing responses during their exit interviews.

KOMO obtained the exit interviews — which blamed city leadership, to riots and low morale for leaving the department.

Brutal and blunt — in their own words, SPD officers did not hold back their reasons for leaving the force.

One retiring patrol sergeant who had been on the force for more than 20 years said, "I refuse to work for this socialist city council and their political agenda. This agenda sacrifices the health and well-being of the officers and ultimately will destroy the fabric of this once fine city.”

When asked if the officers would come back and work for the department again, “One K-9 officer who’s resigning after more than 11 years said, “I highly doubt it. You could pay me twice what you’re paying me now and I would not work for Seattle under this current political mayhem, Marxist collaborations and lack of government and police leadership.”

“At least 118 Seattle police officers separated from the department (this year), the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH has confirmed. In September alone, 39 officers left the force when the typical number for that month is between 5 and 7. Even new recruits are leaving.

There are now only about 1,200 officers in service for the entire city, the lowest it’s been in two decades. And even this number is misleading. Many officers are using their accrued sick time as they begin their escape to other agencies or wait for retirement.

The City of Seattle unveiled this officer separation data on Friday morning.

“The mass exodus of officers started in May with 10 separations, followed by 16 in June, 10 in July, and 14 in August. In September, that number jumped to 39. So far in October, there have been eight separations according to a source...”

So a total of 89 officers have resigned since May. But the article goes on to say:

“But these numbers don’t tell the whole picture. Sources reveal that many officers are using sick time at higher than normal rates. Many of them are looking for other jobs in different agencies. When they leave, some officers fear the separations could hit 200.”

Hunter Biden’s Old Laptop

The New York Post has received emails and videos recovered from a laptop that is suspected to have been formerly owned by Hunter Biden. In what is being described as a “blockbuster” story, Hunter Biden is shown to have set up a meeting between his Ukrainian business associates and his father Joe Biden, who was Vice President at the time.

A computer shop owner in Delaware received the computer in 2019 from someone whom he could not definitely identify as Hunter Biden, but the contents certainly point to it being his computer. 

Regardless, these documents are out there now and they once again blow holes in the narrative Joe Biden has tried to spin about him and his son’s dealings overseas. Remember, the elder Biden has repeatedly said he was completely ignorant of his son’s business connections in Ukraine, for example.

That now appears to be officially debunked by these newly revealed emails. Hunter Biden introduced his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, to a top executive at a Ukrainian energy firm less than a year before the elder Biden pressured government officials in Ukraine into firing a prosecutor who was investigating the company, according to emails obtained by The Post.

The never-before-revealed meeting is mentioned in a message of appreciation that Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the board of Burisma, allegedly sent Hunter Biden on April 17, 2015, about a year after Hunter joined the Burisma board at a reported salary of up to $50,000 a month.

“Dear Hunter, thank you for inviting me to DC and giving an opportunity to meet your father and spent [sic] some time together. It’s realty [sic] an honor and pleasure,” the email reads.

An earlier email from May 2014 also shows Pozharskyi, reportedly Burisma’s No. 3 exec, asking Hunter for “advice on how you could use your influence” on the company’s behalf.

The continued efforts to pretend that Hunter Biden wasn’t involved in influence peddling has become laughable. This was a man who was making tens of thousands of dollars a month to sit on the board of a foreign energy company while he was setting up meetings between those associates and his vice president father.

Aside from the emails, there were also pictures and video showing Hunter Biden doing lewd activities, sexually and drug wise. That’s no surprise given his history. Of course, that is something that would be made a major story if this were a Republican involved, but these are Democrats so this will all be swept under the rug.

What we do know is that Joe Biden lied. He has met with multiple business associates of Hunter Biden and had to have known about what was going on. That he’s been able to escape answering questions about this is a travesty as we move closer to election day.

1) The whole time they were accusing Trump of Ukrainian collusion, they were doing it. 

2) A shady foreign operative literally put in emails to Joe Biden's son "how can you use your influence (which we're paying you for) to help us" and "thanks for introducing us to the vice president." Who then later did what they wanted him to do by using his leverage to get rid of the prosecutor looking into their business dealings a few months later.

Hours into Tuesday’s hearing, the Supreme Court nominee was asked what notes she was referring to for help while answering questions from the Senate. “Most of us have multiple notebooks and notes and books and things like that in front of us,” Senator John Cornyn said. The nominee held up a blank notepad with a letterhead of the United States Senate. Cornyn answered: “That’s impressive."

While I really do appreciate what Sen. Sasse is saying, particularly about religious freedom, until we have Christians like Sasse who are willing to insist out loud in public that the only consistent basis for that religious freedom is the Christian worldview, we will continue to fight uphill battle. He went on to argue against judicial activism, court packing, and for originalism/textualism, interpreting the law as it was actually written. But those are all Christian values. Related is the fact that religious beliefs do affect how we interpret law. Our souls drive how we think, act, and decide. Lastly, while Sasse rightly wants to make room for a wide diversity of religious views, his claims ring hallow when everyone knows that some deeply held religious beliefs really are wicked and harmful. Muslims who believe it is acceptable to beat their wives or daughters with a baseball bat are following their deeply held religious beliefs. That isn’t just “wacky,” its wicked and unlawful. But that depends upon a transcendent standard.

Amazon may be adding some unexpected nudity to Middle-earth in its upcoming Lord of the Ringstelevision series. The massive project resumed filming in New Zealand in September after a pandemic-induced halt. Now a casting call has gone out for various actors, including those "comfortable with nudity." The casting call from the BGT talent agency caught the eye of Lord of the Rings fansite TheOneRing.net. It reads, "Comfortable with Nudity? Up to $500 per day. Use reference NUDE. We need Nude people based in Auckland - age 18 plus, all shapes and sizes (Intimacy guidelines will always be followed on set)." The production also has an intimacy coordinator on its team, suggesting the series could include sex scenes.

This listing has some fans worrying that the Amazon show may be taking inspiration from HBO's hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, which never shied away from sexual content. That fit in with George R.R. Martin's lurid, dark, low fantasy world. It'd be less at home in the chaste, high-fantasy of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth. Fans likely won't know for sure until the series finally debuts.

James and Gail Blais hope to foster, and eventually adopt, their great-granddaughter, H.V. After H.V. was born [in September 2019], concerns about her welfare arose. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare ("IDHW") ultimately removed H.V. from her birth parents' care and later reached out to the Blaises about possibly fostering or adopting her. The Blaises expressed an interest in caring for H.V., so IDHW asked the Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families ("Department") to evaluate the Blaises for a foster care license.

To address the needs of foster children who are developing, discovering, or identifying themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ+), the Department has promulgated several regulations and policies for Department staff and foster parents providing foster care services. The Blaises are devout Seventh-day Adventists. Following a home study, the Department denied the Blaises' foster care license application. Their answers to a series of hypotheticals involving a foster child who might in the future develop or identify as LGBTQ+ did not conform to Department regulations and policy…

The court therefore blocked the Department from categorically banning foster parenting by people who have objections to homosexuality or gender transition, and also "enjoins Department July 2018 Policy Roll Out Questions & Answers to the extent inconsistent with this order":

That said, the Court does not enjoin the Department from taking LGBTQ+ considerations into account when reviewing foster care license applications. But a foster care applicant's answers to LGBTQ+ hypotheticals cannot serve as the soledetermining factor when an applicant expresses sincerely held religious beliefs. It must base its decision on something more. If the only factor weighing against an otherwise qualified applicant has to do with their sincerely held religious beliefs, the Department must not discriminate against a foster care applicant based on their creed. The Department must make reasonable accommodations for religion—especially in cases like this one where the potential placement involves a biological family member. As Department guidance suggests, it must evaluate each applicant holistically: "All families are unique; these questions are not one size fits all."

The problem is threefold: First, there is no historical record that Honest Abe said anything remotely close to “It’s not the right thing to do.” 

Second, when Supreme Court Justice Roger Taney died in October 1964, 27 days before the next presidential election, the Senate was not even in session. So there was no point in announcing his nomination at that point – the senate wouldn’t even be able to act on it.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in August issued a “cease and desist” order to halt the production of the Honey Badger AR pistol, according to a letter from the bureau that surfaced this week

The Q LLC Honey Badger pistol, which fires the .300 blackout cartridge, sports a barrel length under 16 inches and uses a pistol arm brace, which traditionally allowed a firearm to be classified as a pistol under ATF guidelines, even though it is visually similar to a rifle, according the letter.

However, the ATF decided the Honey Badger was not a pistol Aug. 3 and sent Q LLC a notice to cease production

Pistol classification allows citizens to own rifle-style, compact pistols with short barrels without incurring a $200 tax stamp and registration status with the bureau

Hundreds of members of the Borough Park Orthodox community took to the streets Tuesday night defying orders to disperse and lighting a fire to burn masks in protest of new state-mandated restrictions imposed on area synagogues, schools and non-essential businesses over a COVID-19 surge.

The Great Barrington Declaration is a statement that has now been signed by 3,781 Medical and Public Health Scientists and 6, 406 Medical Practitioners as well as 94,000 others from the general public. 

“As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection. 

Coming from both the left and right, and around the world, we have devoted our careers to protecting people. Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice… 

Fortunately, our understanding of the virus is growing. We know that vulnerability to death from COVID-19 is more than a thousand-fold higher in the old and infirm than the young. Indeed, for children, COVID-19 is less dangerous than many other harms, including influenza. 

As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls. We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity – i.e.  the point at which the rate of new infections is stable – and that this can be assisted by (but is not dependent upon) a vaccine. Our goal should therefore be to minimize mortality and social harm until we reach herd immunity. 

The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk. Eddie Van Halen has died. 

Born in the Netherlands and raised in Pasadena, Calif., he founded Van Halen with his older brother, drummer Alex; the siblings were joined by vocalist David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony in the first recording lineup of the group. Roth would later leave the band in 1984, with Sammy Hagar replacing him, leading to four consecutive number 1 albums from 1986 to 1995.

Eddie’s son Wolf wrote on Twitter Tuesday: I can’t believe I’m writing this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning.  He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I’ve shared with him on and off stage was a gift. My heart is broken and I don’t think I’ll ever fully recover from this loss. I love you so much, Pop.

Van Halen was 65.

In November 2018, Alabama voters backed a state constitutional amendment, called Amendment 930, that explicitly recognizes and protects the rights of unborn children in the state, granting them equal protection under the law.

The group of black leaders submitted the Equality Petition to the Alabama Supreme Court on Sept. 22, the 158th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation freeing slaves in Confederate states. 

The petition filed in Montgomery, Alabama, specifically calls for the state’s highest court to clarify for elected officials that the U.S. Constitution empowers them, and the state Constitution requires them, to prohibit discrimination against black women and unborn black children to ensure their equal protection.

The group of black leaders promoting the Equality Proclamation say that census data shows that Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers intentionally target back women and children by setting up clinics in African American neighborhoods. 

The result in Alabama, they say, is that black babies are four times more likely to be aborted than are white babies. Since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling legalizing abortion across the nation, they say, 20 million black babies have been aborted.

The petition cites both the 10th Amendment, which grants power to the states, and the 14th Amendment, which grants equal protection for all Americans. 

Alveda King, a pro-life activist and a niece of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., said in an interview that the abortion industry traditionally has targeted the black population going back to its founding by Margaret Sanger in 1921.
