《老子》第十四章
视之不见,名曰夷;听之不闻,名曰希;搏之不得,名曰微。此三者不可致诘,故混而为一。其上不皎,其下不昧。绳绳兮不可名,
复归于无物。是谓无状之状,无物之象,是谓惚恍。迎之不见其首,随之不见其后。
执古之道,以御今之有。能知古始,是谓道纪。
【译文】
看它看不见,就叫"夷";听它听不到,就叫"希";捉它捉不着,就叫"微"。从这三方面不可以加以探究,所以是混合的一。它的上部不明亮,它的下部不暗淡。结绳栓系住它,却不能名状它,复归到无物质的状态。这就叫做没有形状的形状,没有物质的显象,它是不确定性的表征。迎面遇到它看不到它的头,追随它看不到它的屁股,它跑的太快了,我们搞不清它的模样。
把握古已有之的道,以驾御现实的具体存在,就象驾驭一匹马。能知道古代的起始,叫做道的缰绳。
一的本质是无,现实的存在是有,能够驾驭它的是道。
If you can't see it, it's called "disappearance"; if you can't hear it, you call it "quiet". If you can't catch it, it's called "micro". You can't explore it from these three aspects, so it's a mixed one. Its upper part is not bright, and its lower part is not dim. It's called a shapeless shape, no physical appearance, it's a sign of uncertainty. When it meets it, it can't see its head, it can't follow it, it can't see its buttocks. It's running too fast. We have no idea what it looks like.
Grasp the ancient Way, with specific control of reality, like rides a horse. To know the ancient origin, called the reins.
The essence of one is nothing, the existence of reality is Something, and it is the Way that can control it.
