The resurrection of Jesus Christ changed the world. The power of his victory conquered darkness, sin, and death. And at the same time it summoned all of us to give our greatness to this greatest of causes – to bring the victory of Christ present to our societies and cultures. In this final presentation of the Gospel’s summons to leadership I’d like to meditate on the power of that resurrection.
All of us in our life will know betrayal. All of us in life will know disappointment by friends. The question is what will we do with that? How can we, engaging in great things, cope with this strike to the heart of being betrayed? Today we are looking at the gospel of St. Mark we’ll see what God has to say and how we can move forward.
Over the past few weeks we’ve been looking at the gospel of St. Mark to see what lessons in leadership can be found there. Chapter 14, our Lord enters into His passion via the Last Supper. There is no better place to understand the role of friendship in the life of Christ than here with his apostles in the upper room.
In our lives as leaders, a lot of times we feel as though difficulty and trial are signs of failure. But in the life of our Lord, His greatest victory on the cross was accompanied by difficulties, trials, and seeming defeats. Let’s find out what the Bible teaches us about the truth of leadership.
