Dark Hearts with Stacy Lee

When girls and young women began disappearing in France and Belgium, it took the police far too long to realize the cases were connected. Serial Killer Michel Fourniret and his wife Monique Olivier had formed a deadly pact and many would die to satiate the sick desires. Many people close to this case feel the police are partly at fault because the killer couple was right under their noses for years and both were known criminals. On this episode we tell the story of The Ogre of Ardennes and we remember those who lost their lives at the hands of not just one monster, but two

A social worker named Daniella Pina and a psychologist named Valeria Donati became convinced that there was a network of satanic pedophiles operating in the small village of Mirandola. They began bringing the area children in for interviews. The children were coerced to make up stories and soon, families were being torn apart. A priest was implicated and died from a massive heart attack when he was accused. Some parents committed suicide. The Children of Veleno, as they came to be known, were taken into foster care and their parents were left devastated. Years later, researchers and courts agree, the entire event was a witch hunt. This leaves us with troubling questions. How was something like this allowed to happen

Ronald DeFeo Sr and his wife Louise purchased a home in Amityville, New York and named it High Hopes. It was anything but. Ronald DeFeo Jr, who went by Butch was the oldest son of five kids and he had a drug problem. He was also violent and had been raised in an abusive household. On November 13, 1974, Butch took a shotgun and murdered the entire family as they slept. After he was imprisoned, George and Kathy Lutz bought the house. Friends were afraid it might be haunted so the Lutz family called a priest to bless the house. The Priest, Father Ray, claims that while blessing the house he heard a menacing voice say, "get out." Afterwards, the Lutz family began experiencing strange paranormal events and soon, they decided to move out. The story would become the inspiration for the famous horror franchise, The Amityville Horror

Jonathan Gerlach is fascinated with death. His Instagram handle, "Dead Sh*t Daddy" shows it. For months he has been digging up graves at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Pennsylvania. It appears as though he has been collecting and selling body parts like skulls, long bones and even torsos. He has also taken the bodies of children. Why would a man do such a thing? Why didn't anyone notice. This is a breaking story and one that still has a lot of unanswered questions. This is what we know so far

Dryden, New York is a beautiful farming village. People live happy lives there. But in 1989, a litany of tragedy struck the small community. First, the Harris Family was murdered before their home was set on fire. A mother suffocated her own baby. A coach was shot and killed by an obsessed teenager. Two cheerleaders were abducted and horribly murdered before being dismembered. People died in car accidents, by suicide, and the town gained a new moniker: Village of the Damned

If you ask 100 True Crime creators their Top 5 most disturbing stories, 90 of them will say the story of Israel Keyes is in their Top 5. Raised as a white supremacist, Keyes hated most everyone. He began killing as a teenager. He is terrifying because he does not follow any of the patterns we know about serial killers. He has no victim profile, no preference, and no pattern. He began traveling the country burying "kill kits" in isolated places like campgrounds, parks and cemeteries. Whenever he was ready, he would travel to one of those locations, dig up his "kill kit" and simply wait for someone to walk by. His killings are random and terrifying. So are the writings and paintings found in his jail cell made in his own blood.

John List had a serious problem. He'd been hiding the fact that he'd been fired from his prestigious job at a New Jersey bank and he was broke. He devised a diabolical plan. He shot and killed his wife Helen then his mother Alma. He then waited for the teenagers to come home from school and one by one, he shot them dead. He placed all but his mother's body in the mansion's ballroom, wrote some letters, and then disappeared. For years authorities searched for him but could not find him until an episode of a new TV show, America's Most Wanted featured the story on national television

Years later, women in California were being stabbed to death in their own homes. Marc Dutroux, The Beast of Belgium was a troubled kid who became a dangerous adult. He took multiple victims, children most, and tortured them before murdering them. His wife, Michelle Martin was complicit and did nothing to help the girls locked in the hidden room of the house. When the public was told an arrest had been made, and that the killer was a previous criminal who did only three years in prison, that the police had been to his house and heard children screaming yet did nothing? The country erupted into chaos. The White March, a protest attended by 300,000 citizens turned violent and people wanted massive change. Then, Marc Dutroux escaped from custody and the country was thrown into a national emergency
