The last of something is always interesting.  The last of the Mohicans.  The last dragon.  The last samurai.  Maybe not that last one.  How about the last Jewish gangster?  No, it's not David.  Although David is a Jewish name, and he did wrestle a bear.  That sounds like something a gangster would do.  The subject of this book is Michael Hardy, godson of Bugsy Seigel and committer of various crimes both petty and whatever the opposite of petty is.  Grand, I guess.
