In the dark of night, The Decade Bird approached the south dock of Arrr Island. The whole island was barricaded behind a line of armed ships showing those flags with the twin crowns. Captain Joe had no idea how they would get past the line without hurting anyone or putting his small crew in harm’s way. He and Captain Rose braced themselves for cannon fire. However, instead, one by one, the guards’ ships started splintering into thousands of pieces, and the air was filled with high-pitched cheers.

Captain Rose looked at Captain Joe and commented, “I am really glad that Captain Big is on our side.”

Captain Joe agreed, “And I hate to think about what might have happened if we had actually fought against him in the Far North.”

Captain Rose maintained the helm and set her course for the south dock with almost no opposition. Captain Joe’s ears rose as if he heard something disturbing, and he looked up at Mr. Bones. Then, he pointed his spyglass to the northeast, then to the northwest...

We read the fourth story of Captain Joe's Pirate Pirates. Captain Joe escorted Oldman of Robey to the Far South as requested. There, they ran to an old acquaintance, and we were introduced to possibly the most dangerous threat in all the great sea. After a full night, a full day, and another night of traveling, The Decade Bird arrived in the Far South at sunrise. The sun was bright, the water was wild, and it was hot…unbearably hot. It occurred to Captain Joe that this was why no one ever sailed past that point of the Great Sea. If it got any hotter, he was likely to pass out and become lost at sea. The captain looked around in all directions, and there was nothing. He looked to Oldman.

“Well, Oldman,” Captain Joe started, “I’ve taken you to the Far South. Where should I drop you off?”

Oldman looked around and pointed to the east horizon...

As The Decade Bird approached Arrr Island, the crew was greeted by two long rows of ships forming a lane to the main dock. The Decade Bird sailed between the two lines of ships. There was at least fifty ships on each side, and they were heavily armed. Each ship donned new black flags with two crowns painted on them.

Captain Joe looked around at his crew, Panto, Oldman, and Mr. Bones, and he smiled with pride. “What a welcome. They recognize us as the heroes we are.”

Panto was not smiling; he was trembling...

Captain Joe and Panto frantically removed water from below the deck of The Decade Bird for several hours. As the ship slowly descended, it also quickly drifted further north. The water got colder and colder and caused pain to the two pirates as they reached their buckets into it, but they pressed on. Captain Joe was motivated by his love for his ship. Panto was motivated by his terrible fear of drowning.

The two managed to keep the deck of The Decade Bird above the water line until sunset. Then, the deck finally sank below the surface of the sea, and there was nowhere to stand, so Captain Joe and Panto released their buckets and climbed the mast. They joined Mr. Bones in the crow’s nest...
