Let's just be real and acknowledge this is an edgy topic.
It's one of those things we don't talk about and often stays tucked in the dark and under the table, so much so that most clinically trained herbalists (and even midwives) have little to no training on this topic AT ALL.
So most of us just avoid the topic. We assume that herbal abortifacients are unsafe and inappropriate and other abortion techniques (like medication, aspiration or clinical) are a better option.
But is there a place for herbal abortions, and if so what would that look like?
Midwife Molly Dutton-Kenny gives a glimpse into an answer that may surprise you.
As a full spectrum midwife, she's been offering abortion care in various forms for her entire career, and even chose the path of midwifery to become a better abortion provider!
Honestly, I'm not sure there's anyone better suited to speak on this topic than she is.
Plus, she's been part of a collective of folks who've gathered and recorded data on herbal abortion care that has recently been published into an article, which we also cover.
It's a fascinating exploration into what's safe and effective, what's not, and so much more.
