In this, the final episode of Devil's Guide to Sobriety, we take a look at the challenges to my own recovery since the traumatic events described in the previous episode. We also talk about our favourite episodes over the years and take a sneaky littile peek behind the scens (Shhh )

Thank you to everyone who has supported the podcast, listened to it, and shared it with friends. I always wanted it to be raw and real, a lived experience of a young woman navigating through recovery, the ups and the downs. As much as I would have loved to continue with this project, as it has always been such a personal and explorative journey, life is too chaotic for me to continue.  

Although this project has come to an end, you will be hearing from me at some point on Daria's new podcast called "How to be Normal" so keep an ear out for it.

In this episode I have the absolute pleasure of interviewing my housemate, my bestie, the man behind the theme tune, the bassist of Seething Akira, Richard Speight. I originally interviewed Maria and Richard together but for this episode we talk about Richard's new found sobriety. Richard hasn't drunk for over 5 months - a break from alcohol that has given him insight into being present for the experiences in life. We talk about gigging and touring sober which is always a subject I am curious about as it takes so much strength. We also talk about how the house dynamics have changed due to our sobriety and what it's like living with a sober Jess.

TW: Homelessness, drug abuse, sex work, rape, loss of a child

In this episode, I interview the incredibly brave @charpunx. 

This interview is definitely one of the most serious episodes we have recorded and I applaud Charlotte for coming on and sharing her story. We talk about how she survived living on the streets and the lifestyle that came alongside it. Charlotte opens up about her addiction to heroin and how she survived being homeless, self medicating with hard drugs. We also talk about what lead her to getting sober and into recovery. We touch on the Brighton punk scene and one of our mutual friends, previous podcast guest Jamie Dimmock who helped her get sober. Now Charlotte is involved with projects which help other people on the street, get into recovery.

I met him through his fiancé Courtney who I work with at Lust. We share some of our personal horror stories in realtion to the Brighton party scene. He explains how coming down to Brighton for university opened up a social scene that he had never been exposed to before.
