Our story starts in the heart of the Yucatan jungle, where Dr. Tara Knowles, who's more comfortable with fringe science than stuffy academia, stumbles upon a hidden structure covered in carvings that shouldn't exist. We're talking Sumerian cuneiform in Mesoamerica, folks – talk about your historical anomalies!
But things get REAL weird, REAL fast when the ground starts shaking, the carvings glow, and a pit opens up, unleashing a horde of pale, monstrous creatures with luminous eyes that would make H.P. Lovecraft proud.
Tara and her archaeologist companion, Dr. Alex Pierce, barely escape with their lives, only to be rescued by Zane, a mysterious figure who seems to be expecting trouble. They hole up in Zane's secret bunker, where Tara starts connecting the dots between ancient flood myths and the horrifying creatures they just encountered.
Our intrepid trio soon discovers that the jungle hides a lost city pulsating with alien technology, where humans were experimented on and transformed into the very monsters described in ancient tales. They find themselves racing against time to stop a second wave of these abominations from being unleashed upon the world.
But here's the kicker: to shut down the alien tech, Tara and Alex have to tap into the very power that's corrupting the creatures, transforming themselves into something more than human.
Will they succeed in saving humanity from an alien-engineered apocalypse? Or will they become the monsters they're fighting against?
